If you're planning on traveling to Saint Lucia, you'll need a valid passport if travelling by air. You'll need a passport that is valid for at least six months when travelling to Saint Lucia. It is recommended to have at least one blank page in your passport to have room enough for your entry stamp when entering Saint Lucia.
Additionally, all travelers are required to provide proof of departure when arriving to Saint Lucia, which means you may need to present your return ticket at immigration.
If you are traveling to Saint Lucia by sea, you can use a passport or one of the following documents:
Cruise visitors are not required to travel with their passport, as they can use other Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) compliant documents. With that said, it is still recommended by the Bureau of Consular Affairs that cruise travelers from the United States bring along their passports in the event of an emergency which may require them to travel back to the U.S. by air. If you're traveling on a cruise, find out the visa and passport requirements for other islands on your route, or speak with your cruise representatives to determine whether you need a passport or visa to enter these ports.

Cruise visitors don't need a passport for Caribbean closed-loop cruises (cruises that start and end at the same port in the U.S.). In most cases, they can use their government issued driver's license or birth certificate. Many cruise travelers choose to travel with their passports anyway just in case the unexpected happens. Your cruise ship representatives will tell you all you need to know about the requirements for your cruise.
Minors, like adults, require passports if travelling by air into Saint Lucia. Visas are not required for minors from the United States.
A passport card is an official state-issued travel document that can be used as a substitute for a passport when traveling to Saint Lucia, as well as most other Caribbean islands by land or sea. Passport cards cannot be used for air travel.
Passport cards are less expensive and more lightweight (wallet-sized) than conventional passports. A passport card for one adult is priced at $55, while you'll find yourself shelling out $135 to get a passport book.
Trusted Traveler programs cater to frequent fliers and help enhance their airport experience with cool features like expedited lanes at U.S. airports. The benefits of these programs extend even to international border crossings, making it overall a welcome and added convenience for travelers.

At time of publication, all of the above memberships can be used as identification when embarking on a cruise to Saint Lucia. However, none of the Trusted Traveler programs will replace the passport when flying to Saint Lucia.
An Enhanced Driver's License (EDL) is a special state-issued driver's license which can be used for land and sea travel. The EDL allows travelers to reenter the U.S. from Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. The EDL is not valid for air travel.
Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Vermont and Washington State are currently the only states issuing enhanced driver's licenses. This license cannot be used for air travel.

Emergency passports in these circumstances are of limited validity and can only be used for a short space of time. You will need to reapply for a permanent passport once you're back home.
U.S. citizens can enter Saint Lucia visa-free for up to a maximum of six months. Once you arrive, an immigration officer will stamp your passport with details on the length of time you can remain on the island - this can be extended through the local immigration office:

C�te d'Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, French Guiana, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Sudan, Tanzania, Togo and Uganda.

Regulations pertaining to yellow fever are similar for travelers who have transited for more than 12 hours in a country with high risk transmission for yellow fever. In those cases, travelers over the age of one will need to show proof that they have been vaccinated 10 days before arriving in Saint Lucia.
Currently, there are no restrictions as it relates to currency on entering or exiting Saint Lucia. In some cases, however, travelers coming into the country may need to declare currency exceeding $10,000.
