For a leisurely walk along the water with the opportunity to shop for local goods, try Handelskade in Willemstad – a UNESCO World Heritage site. Handelskade is a small street that runs along the Curaçao harbor and is lined with brightly painted 18th century buildings. Today, these brightly colored buildings are home to cafes, island boutiques and other local stores - it's a little haven of European architecture in the heart of Curaçao.
Curaçao has over 35 unique and diverse beaches. Almost all of Curaçao’s beaches are scattered along the sheltered southwestern coast, where the waters are calm and crystal clear. Most of Curaçao’s postcard beachscapes can we found in the area of Westpunt, the island’s most western point. Swim the translucent waters of Playa Knenepa, cliff jump at Playa Forti and to see the area’s diverse marine life, visit Playa Piskadó to swim with sea turtles.
Curaçao offers a plethora of dive sites with warm, blue water with temperatures averaging between 80 degrees and 82 degrees, with visibility of up 150 feet. Home to some of the healthiest marine environment in the Caribbean, the island offers a host of tropical coral species on the reef, with a nice mix of both soft & hard corals and an abundance of colorful tropical fish that populate the reef, as well as turtles, eagle rays, eels, sea horses and many more!

This uniquely designed foot-bridge guards the entrance to the port of Willemstad, one of the busiest ports in the world. The bridge is unique in that it floats on the water, and swings open to allow ships to pass through. In fact, at high tide, you can even feel the bridge float gently over the waves. Moreover, the bridge provides great views and photo opportunities from a unique angle, and is beautiful when lit at night.
Would you believe that Curaçao's most popular alcoholic beverage was created by accident? Hundreds of years ago, the Valencia orange was introduced to the island - only it didn't flourish, and produced the Lahara orange instead. Locals from Curaçao found that the peel of a Lahara orange, when combined with a variety of spices, created a unique and delicious liqueur. Today, it is simply known as Blue Curaçao Liqueur and is a favorite between both tourists and locals.
