Leave our office in Barcelona on an air-conditioned coach towards Montserrat. After a 1h drive on the highway, board the cogwheel train up the mountain and enjoy the amazing views over the area. Admire the Mountain’s peculiar morphology comes from the Catalan words Mont (mountain) and Serrat (serrated). World-famous for its rocky geography, Montserrat's beautiful scenery was declared National Park in 1987 to protect its natural and cultural wealth.
Follow your local guide through the site and learn about the history and architectural style of the Monastery. A community of 80 monks currently lives and follow the rule of Saint Benedict in Montserrat. Fall in love with the Gothic and Renaissance details of the basilica and sanctuary. Learn about the legend of the miraculous apparition of the Madonna and Child in the cave of Santa Cova. To this day, their woodcarving is kept in the Church of the monastery, which you will be able to visit. The figure is popularly known as La Moreneta (The Black Madonna) as a result of a varnish reaction.
Besides the main area, there are a great number of small churches and trails you can follow. You will be given free time to taste the finest liquors, shop for locally produced treats or visit the audio-visual exhibition once our guided tour finishes.
We would like to show you some activities that you can do during your free time after the guided tour. Please, bear in mind that your free time is limited. If you want to enjoy a complete day in Montserrat, we recommend you our full day tour to Montserrat.
Montserrat Museum: wide variety of archeological artworks from medieval times to avant-garde style. Entrance fee not included on the tour.
Hiking routes: although there are plenty of trails to follow, we recommend you to reach the cross of Sant Miquel (approximately 15 minutes from the monastery) as it offers one of the best views of the area.

Barcelona is the capital of the Catalonia region of Spain. Known for its Gothic architecture, bustling sea port and vibrant culture, Barcelona is among Europe's most popular and well-traveled cities. Barcelona is located along Spain's northeastern coast tucked between the Mediterranean Sea and the sloping mountains inland. The vibrant city is home to a motley mix of both international and national students, locals and, of course, artists. Inspiration is never far away in this city from the Gaudi treasures to the sights along the charming Las Ramblas boulevard, which cuts through the heart of historic Barcelona and makes its way to the port and sea.
Thanks to the Olympic Games, which Barcelona hosted in 1992, the city has flourished as a major center for not only business but as a booming tourist city playing host to travelers from around the world and home to historic attractions and an inviting culture of music, food and art. Visitors won't have to look far for things to do and see within downtown Barcelona and its surrounding neighborhoods and cities. From the seaside port area and beaches to street cafes in the Gothic neighborhood, Barcelona is abounding with attractions. It's also considered one of Spain's most cosmopolitan cities and one of the busiest ports in the entire Mediterranean region. As the capital of the Catalonia region, Barcelona has a very distinct culture and characteristics, including the use of the Catalan language as opposed to Spanish as many may assume. Art and architecture buffs will have plenty of great places to visit, especially with the touches artists such as Gaudi and Picasso left on this city. From the tapas bars and nearby sandy beaches to the beautiful Montserrat Mountains in the distance, Barcelona is charming and full of character with much to offer any type of traveler.
