Three-time NBA Champion Dwyane Wade hosted his All-Star Bowling Classic on Saturday, February 14th in support of the Game Changer program, the collaborative integrated sports program created by The Sandals Foundation and Wade’s World Foundation to assist youth in underserved communities through sport and mentorship. Presented by Apollo Jets, all proceeds from the celebrity bowling competition benefited the Game Changer initiative and raised awareness for the cause through a red carpet, star-studded event.
Hosted at Bowlmor Lanes in the heart of Times Square (222 West 44th Street), the fundraiser featured 11 sponsored bowling lanes, each paired with a celebrity. Entertainment from DJ Irie and Scratch DJ Academy®, along with a silent auction were also part of the event’s festivities.
Celebrities and friends who came to support this initiative included Jerry Seinfeld, Katie Couric, Gabrielle Union, T-Pain, Black Thought of The Roots, Marcus Scribner, Kelly Bensimon, Mercedes Lewis, John Molner, Jill Martin, DJ Irie, Michael Allen, John Foxx and Mickey Arison.
Proceeds raised were donated to build Game Changer’s first multi?purpose sports court, as well as support for underprivileged youth with access to planned sports, mentorships, healthy lifestyle education and family engagement. In addition, the Game Changer program will contribute to the upgrading and refurbishing of multi?purpose sports courts in South Florida and the seven Caribbean Islands which the Sandals Foundation supports through educational, community and environmental initiatives.
