Condé Nast Names Sandals Resorts A ‘World Savers Finalist’

Every year Condé Nast Traveler magazine honors those travel organizations which demonstrate exceptional achievement in environmental and social responsibility. This prestigious recognition known as the annual World Savers Awards evaluates airlines, tour operators, cruise lines, resorts and hotels in five areas: education, environmental and cultural preservation, health, poverty relief, and wildlife conservation. From nearly 175 applicants, Sandals Resorts International has been named a finalist in this year’s competition for its impactful environmental efforts and philanthropic work through the Sandals Foundation in the “Small Chains” category.

While most hoteliers focus solely on guest experience, Sandals Resorts International (SRI) has engrained humanitarian practices into its company operations from inception and even advocates philanthropy as part of the vacation experience.  In 2009, SRI established a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization called the Sandals Foundation to expand upon its charitable work which plays a meaningful role in the lives of the communities where the company operates across the Caribbean. The Sandals Foundation funds projects in three core areas, all of which CNT’s World Savers Awards deems significant: education, community and the environment.  

From the Sandals Earth Guard Program which supports and maintains SRI’s sustainability policies and procedures in minimizing the environmental and social impacts associated with operating the resorts, to the Reading Road Trip, a volunteer literacy enhancement program that helps to improve the reading skills of children who attend locally adopted schools, Sandals Resorts International is dedicated to making the Caribbean the best place it can be.  For all of these efforts, not only at the resorts but beyond, we are proud to be chosen by Condé Nast Traveler as one of the World Savers Awards finalists who are “transforming luxury travel into a gateway for change."
