When you think of a Caribbean beach, you can immediately visualize yourself at the seashore with sunglasses on and a cocktail in hand as a gentle wind cools off the warm sun rays. Many people's fantasies will take them to The Bahamas, where some of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean can be found.
Nassau, the capital of The Bahamas, has some of the best beaches in the country, including Cabbage Beach. Other gorgeous beaches on the island include Jaws Beach, Love Beach, and Cable Beach (which is home to one of the best
Here are some of the best beaches to spend time on while in Nassau, Bahamas!
Expert tip: Nassau, which is located on the island of New Providence, is just a 55-minute flight from Miami. That makes this a great destination for a quick Caribbean getaway!
Cabbage Beach is a very popular Bahamian beach on the north coast of Paradise Island, which is connected by a bridge to New Providence. While among the
One of the first things you'll notice when you visit Cabbage Beach is how clean the beach is. It is a public beach, so no entry fee is required to experience this location. Find a comfy place on the warm sand and settle in. You can even secure a lounge chair and an umbrella if you don't mind paying a little extra. Renting beach chairs costs about $5 USD at Cabbage Beach and umbrellas are about $10 USD.
While you're at Cabbage Beach, you'll be conveniently positioned near lots of restaurants, bars, and shops. Water sports are readily available if you want to add a little more excitement to your beach day. Kayaks, jet skis, and banana boats are just some of the options you can choose from. Snorkeling and scuba diving at Cabbage Beach are possible, but you'll find that there are better locations for those activities, especially if you want to see lots of marine life. Swimmers should be aware that there are no lifeguards on duty at Cabbage Beach, and the waves can sometimes be a bit rough.
Since Paradise Island and New Providence are connected by two bridges (one in each direction), you will have to cross a toll bridge to get to Cabbage Beach from Nassau. The cost of the toll is about $2 USD for cars and taxis, but there is no charge if you're athletic enough to cross either of the bridges on foot. Cabbage Beach is only about a 12-minute drive from the cruise port in downtown Nassau, which makes it quite a popular choice for cruise travelers. If you want to avoid large crowds at Cabbage Beach, it's best not to visit on days when there are lots of cruise ships in port.
Most people get to Cabbage Beach by car or taxi as there is no public transportation available to get you to the area. Unless you will already be spending some time on Paradise Island, it's not recommended that you try to walk this beach.
Expert Tip: If you're planning to visit The Bahamas, here are some tips on
what to do in Nassau for a very merry vacation.
Nassau, Bahamas is home to some of the most attractive beaches in the country. A few of the ones you'll definitely want to spend some time on are Cable Beach, Love Beach, and Jaws Beach. We'll tell you all about them below!
Looking for Sandals Resorts travel agents? We offer the best prices and packages, including airfare to and from destination, airport transfers, excursions and activities, travel insurance and so much more.
Walking along
If you'll be venturing to Cable Beach from downtown Nassau, it'll take around 20 minutes to get there by car, and 2 hours if you choose to walk. Cable Beach may seem a little more out of the way compared to beaches like Cabbage Beach and Junkanoo Beach, but the experience here is absolutely worth the trip.
Expert tip: Scuba divers love the convenience of
all-inclusive resorts in The Bahamas , like Sandals Royal Bahamian on Cable Beach. There, certified divers can dive for free twice a day with one tank or once a day with two tanks. Professional-quality dive equipment is also included!

Love Beach is relaxed, beautiful, and low-key. This beach, located on the northern end of New Providence just west of Cable Beach, is the perfect place for a calm and peaceful beach day. You will be greeted by tranquil waters, lots of shade, and a serene atmosphere. Love Beach is seldom crowded, so it's a great option if you're looking for a beach that's away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Diving at Love Beach is an exceptional experience. Sightings can include barracuda, lobster, and lots of beautiful tropical fish and coral. You will love how untouched Love Beach appears, and there is little visible infrastructure. Even so, you'll find restrooms, a beach bar, wifi, free parking, and umbrella and beach chair rentals nearby.
Good to know: Love Beach is one of the top places to
snorkel in Nassau as there is a thriving coral reef just offshore. The still and warm water makes for optimal snorkeling conditions!
Jaws Beach is another stunning beach on the western end of New Providence. This white-sand stretch is complete with mesmerizing turquoise waters that are shallow for quite a distance out. The lack of strong waves or undercurrents means this beach is suitable for all ages.
Since Jaws Beach is a little off the beaten path, much like Love Beach, there is not a whole lot of infrastructure available like bathrooms. You should also keep in mind that there are no restaurants or bars on this beach, so pack a picnic lunch to enjoy while there. Despite the minor inconveniences, Jaws Beach will truly exceed your expectations.
Good to know: Jaws Beach is part of the protected Clifton Heritage National Park. If you're up for a bit of a walk and a whole lot of history, you can tour the park to explore the remnants of actual slave homes, view underwater statues during an amazing snorkeling experience, and dive sunken wrecks that were used in the famous movie franchise, Jaws!
Beautiful beaches are one of the most appealing things about Caribbean vacations. There's hardly a better way to relax than staring out at the ocean from a beautiful seashore. Though Cabbage Beach is a popular option in The Bahamas, surrounding attractions can sometimes make the beach a little more crowded and noisy than desired. Fortunately, there are better options than Cabbage Beach around Nassau, like Cable Beach, Love Beach, and Jaws Beach, where you can truly let go of your worries.
For the most serene beach experience, consider staying at a luxurious all-inclusive resort in The Bahamas where the nearest beach will be mere footsteps away. If your plan is to compare the beaches of New Providence while on an all-inclusive vacation, Sandals Royal Bahamian is a great place to start. Not only does this resort sit on the idyllic Cable Beach, but it also has its own private offshore island for guests to enjoy! That's two beautiful beaches, unlimited gourmet dining at 10 restaurants, unlimited premium liquors at eight bars, and land and water sports all included - what could be better?

best beaches in The Bahamas , including Junkanoo Beach, Pink Sands Beach, and many others, and see how many you'll be able to explore during your Bahamian getaway!
