What to Know in Planning a Walt Disney World Vacation
Planning a trip to WDW takes a lot of thought and planning. Even with the best laid plans, one can encounter a bump or two along the way.
An Authorized Disney Vacation Planner, like myself, is a 'one-stop-Disney-vacation-shop!' I can help you build your vacation from beginning to end! The best part is that my AMAZING services come at no extra cost to you, than if you'd booked it yourself.
What are the perfect number of days for a Disney World vacation?
It really depends on what you are looking for in your vacation! Generally, three to five days is enough to experience the four main theme parks, but you can always add on extra days to explore the other attractions and experiences available. If you’re looking for a more leisurely vacation, seven to ten days would be ideal to truly enjoy everything Disney World has to offer.
When is the best time to visit Disney World?
The best time to visit Disney World is typically during the off-season. This usually falls between early January and late February, as well as the months of September and October. During these times, there are usually fewer crowds and lower prices. However, it's important to note that the busiest times of year (like summer, Christmas and Easter) can still be enjoyable if you plan ahead and make reservations in advance.
Common mistakes we see when people try to book themselves at the Happiest Place on Earth
Mistake #1 – Not reserving table service meals in advance. You’ll absolutely need to make a reservation for sit down meals 60/180 days prior to your arrival. And, beware…they go fast, especially signature and character experiences.
Mistake #2 – Not using mobile order. If quick service dining is preferred, we encourage you to order using your device in advance. Payment via this method is contactless and all you have to do is pick up your order and go.
Mistake #3 – Not budgeting in advance. This is especially true for food and merchandise. Scope out menus ahead of time and don’t impulse purchase. Try to go in with a PLAN and a budget and stick to it.
Mistake #4 – Overpacking. You don’t need four pairs of shoes and two pairs of Mickey ears per day! Make and stick to a packing list, but don’t forget essentials! Sure, you can find them on property, but at a premium.
Mistake #5 – Overplanning. Prioritize your parks and attractions, but don’t pen anything in. Variables like weather and crowds could quickly derail a day that has been booked down to the minute. Be sure to plan for breaks with all of that walking!
Mistake #6 – Ignoring the forecast. Monitor the weather in Orlando prior to departure and adjust accordingly. Likely rain gear will be needed for summers, and a sweater, sweatshirt or jacket needed for cooler winter nights.
Mistake #7 – Visiting at the wrong time. As a rule of thumb, holidays, school breaks, summer, and weekends will bring the crowds. If they’re too much for you and/or you prefer a more relaxed vibe, check out other times of the year.
Mistake #8 – Wearing the wrong shoes! You should not purchase those cool new sneaks specifically for this trip. New shoes are culprits for a world of hurt, and bandaids. Stick with pairs that are broken in and comfy.

Disney Properties, How do you make the right selection?
Staying on Disney property is certainly our recommendation. At the end of the day Disney is always telling a story, right? Well, the resorts on property certainly aren’t an exception. Plus, staying on property comes with perks that hotels off site just don’t have. Added value! With more than 25 resorts, how do you select the one that is best for your family? Here’s a quick look!
Disney separates its resorts into four categories - value, moderate, deluxe and villas (usually part of the Disney Vacation Club). Pricing, features onsite and availability of certain amenities start off pretty basic and add on from there.
Value – Pretty basic rooms and baths. Recreation and dining are limited – think large pool and food court. Transport is typically going to be via bus.
Moderate – Rooms here are larger and in different configurations as is the bath. View options, pools, recreation, and dining are a little more robust. Bus transport is typical here, but you might find a property with a boat.
Deluxe – Most posh rooms! Types and sizes can vary. The main draw is the proximity to the parks. This is as close as it gets! A park could be a quick walk or monorail ride away.
Villas – We’ll keep things simple here. Villas are a part of the Disney Vacation Club program (but can be booked for cash). Bath and bed configuration can vary by room size, but everything else is like a deluxe property.
Evaluate each category as described and make your selection based on the needs of your family. Need help in choosing which is best for you and your family? Let us guide you each step of the way!
More Details - Selecting a Resort on Walt Disney World Property
Each resort has been carefully crafted and immerses you in a story – and we LOVE that. Plus, staying on property comes with perks that hotels off site just don’t have. Added value! However, there are SO many resorts (more than 25!). So, how do you select the one that is best for your family? Well, we’re here to break it down for you, and as we go, remember the story! A hint or indicator of it is usually in the name.
Since the resorts are split into four budget categories - value, moderate, deluxe and villas (usually part of the Disney Vacation Club but can be booked for cash). Pricing usually follows this model as it sounds – value is a better price per night as compared to deluxe. Same goes for features onsite and availability of certain amenities. Let’s do a quick breakdown!
Value Category - Resort Level
The bulk of rooms in this category are standard and approximately 260 square feet. There is a basic bath setup (sink often in the open and toilet and shower/tub in a separate room) and bedding could be two doubles or a king. Some rooms in this category are family suites coming in at approximately 520 square feet. They have a similar set up as a standard but double the baths and add in some convertible sleeping options. From here things at both are about the same. Views can differ from parking areas and wooded areas to swimming pools – and naturally the better the view the higher the price. Speaking of swimming pools, the pools here are typically themed and could be interactive, but here’s your warning – no slides! Other forms of recreation can be limited – think poolside games, a playground, and an occasional movie outside at night. Dining options are slim too with your only options being a foot court or pool bar. Finally, transportation provided by Disney (a perk of staying onsite!) will usually be via a bus. The only exceptions to this are the Art of Animation Resort and Pop Century, which recently were added to the new-ish Skyliner route.
Includes: All Star Movies, All Star Music, All Star Sports, Art of Animation, Pop Century, and Campsites at Fort Wilderness.
Moderate Category - Resort Level
Standard rooms in this category are in the 300 square foot range with a similar bath set up as a value resort, but maybe an additional sink. Two queen beds or one king is the standard, but there might be a spot for a potential fifth person (otherwise four is max). Views are similar as well but throw in the possibility of a room facing/near a natural body of water. Pools, other recreation and dining options are a little more robust with the addition of “quiet pools,” water recreation, bikes, a health club (Coronado Springs), at least one table service restaurant and a lounge. Transport here is typically bus as well, but there might be a boat service from some resorts to Disney Springs.
Includes: Caribbean Beach, Coronado Springs, Port Orleans French Quarter, Port Orleans Riverside, and Cabins at Fort Wilderness
Deluxe Category - Resort Level
There are a variety of rooms and sizes here. We’re talking anywhere from 344 to 440 square feet. The bath situation can vary too and includes what you’ll find in a moderate, but probably in a different configuration for more privacy. If the room is larger, there might be several baths. Bedding configuration is like a moderate property with nothing smaller than a queen. However, it’s the views, recreation, dining, and transportation that sets a deluxe apart. Pools will have slides, hot tubs, or other water features. Spa services might even be available. There are more table service restaurants, room service and maybe even character dining your Walt Disney World onsite. Lastly, these resorts are typically in close proximity to a park (very attractive to some), so transportation options open up. Buses, skyliner and boats could still be available, but add walking and monorails to the list.
Includes: Animal Kingdom Lodge, Beach Club, BoardWalk Inn, Contemporary, Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, Polynesian Village, Wilderness Lodge, and Yacht Club.
Villas Category - Resort Level
We’ll keep things simple here. Villas are a part of the Disney Vacation Club program but can be booked for cash. Villas can be found at some deluxe properties, but there are also three that are dedicated to Disney Vacation Club. Rooms are villa style with more amenities and can range from a studio all the way to a three bedroom. Bath and bed configuration can vary by room size, but everything else is similar to a deluxe property.
Includes: Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary, Boulder Ridge Villas at Wilderness Lodge, Copper Creek Villas and Cabins at Wilderness Lodge, Animal Kingdom Villas at Jambo House and Kidani Village, Beach Club Villas, BoardWalk Villas, Old Key West, Polynesian Villas and Bungalows, Riviera Resort, Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa, Villas at Grand Floridian Resort and Spa.

21 Fun Facts about Walt Disney World
Balloons Balloons have been a guest favorite since day one. Disneyland started selling them in 1955! And fun fact – if you pop your balloon while in the park just bring it back to the vendor and they’ll replace it! Ready to pick up yours? Then, let’s get planning! What’s the Disney souvenir of choice for you or your little ones? Balloon? Plush? T-shirt?
Beast and Belle Flower and Garden The Flower and Garden Festival at Epcot runs annually starting in the spring. Did you know that more than 500,000 plants, trees and shrubs are installed for the festival? A lot of people call it their favorite. Are you ready to find out? Our personal favorite Flower and Garden Festival topiary can be found in the France pavilion – Belle and Beast. If you’ve been, what was your favorite?
Boardwalk Staying on Disney property is special. Not only are you immersing yourself in a story and experience, but you might even be so close to the parks that you have this view! Ready to explore the onsite possibilities? Tell us, do you stay on Disney property? What is your favorite and why?
Carousel No visit to the Disney parks is complete without a ride on the carousel. With the backdrop of the castle, it stands as the most classic ride of them all. Ready to put this attraction on your must-do list? Do you know how to identify Cinderella’s horse?
Castle Fireworks Another Disney tradition is catching the nighttime fireworks! There have been many iterations over the years, and they just keep getting better and better. If you’re ready to see them in person, let’s connect! What has been your most recent fireworks show favorite?
Cinderella’s Castle Cinderella’s Castle as pulled straight from the movie, is said to have drawn influence from Versailles and Fontainebleau in France as well as Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany. Do you see the resemblance? The regal Cinderella’s Castle stands as our favorite castle from any park across the globe. Which castle is your favorite? What memories does it hold for you?
Epcot Flower and Garden Festival Epcot holds a lot of festivals throughout the year and our favorite can be seen here – the Epcot Flower and Garden Festival. Watch the park come to life in bloom each spring. Ready to schedule a visit to one of Epcot’s festivals? Topiaries? The fresh snacks? Scavenger hunt around World Showcase? What’s your favorite part of Flower and Garden?
Epcot Skyliner The Skyliner is the newest form of transportation on property having opened in September of 2019. It connects four resorts and two theme parks. The system is easy to navigate, convenient and the views while riding are mesmerizing. Ready to ride? Let’s get you there. The Skyliner has quickly become a transportation favorite among guests. Have you had the chance to experience it? Did you love it?
Expedition Everest There are a bunch of fun facts about Expedition Everest at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Most notably, it’s the tallest attraction on property. But did you know that despite its name, riders aren’t actually navigating Mount Everest? Instead, it holds the fictitious name of Forbidden Mountain. Disney Imagineers created it just for the storyline of the attraction! Riding forward…Riding backward (in the dark)…An 80 foot drop. Yikes! Do you love or hate Everest, um Forbidden Mountain?
Haunted Mansion As you weave through the Haunted Mansion queue pay close attention. The names on the tombstones are those of Imagineers! Some even worked on the build of the attraction itself! Another fun fact, as you exit there’s a pet cemetery. Towards the back there’s a tribute to Mr. Toad! Besides it’s 999 happy haunts, there’s a hidden Mickey inside the Haunted Mansion! Do you know where it’s located?
Mickey Ears and Castle Ears for some are a must have collectible. During your visit to WDW keep an eye out for ears that pay tribute to certain attractions and characters. If you’re looking to jump on an even hotter trend, go for one of the many color specific ears. Rose gold and purple potion are two favorites. Get your ears on!
Mickey Waffles Some say that waffles just taste better when they’re in the shape of Mickey and consumed on property. There is an abundance of breakfast locations where you’ll find this icon! And, while the mouse himself is the most widely available, you might spot Stitch or Simba at some spots as well! We love Mickey waffles! What’s your favorite Disney snack?
Monorail There are three different monorail lines. The Epcot line connects guest to Epcot via the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC). The Resort line stops at Magic Kingdom, all three surrounding resorts and the TTC. The Express line is a direct connect between MK and the TTC. If the Express line is too long, hop on the Resort line if there’s a much shorter wait time and only make one additional stop at the Contemporary! The classic. The monorail. It’s our favorite. Is it yours too?
Pandora The stunning Pandora – World of Avatar. The film’s writer and director James Cameron played an integral role in the design of this land in Animal Kingdom as did producer Jon Landeau. They were joined by legendary Imagineer Joe Rohde. Did you know they left a little easter egg at the exit of Flight of Passage? Keep an eye out for it during your next visit! Flight of Passage. Pandora’s must-do attraction. Do you rope drop it? Or save it for your last attraction before close?
Spaceship Earth Spaceship Earth or as some call it, “the giant golf ball” is the very first ride that we take when visiting Epcot. We just can’t get over the fact that we travel in there! Imagineering at it’s finest. What is the first attraction on your list when visiting Epcot? What’s your favorite scene on Spaceship Earth? Rome burning? The Phoenicians?
Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge The most recent addition to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Galaxy’s Edge was announced in 2015. After over six years of concept development and construction, the first guests were welcomed in 2019! And, for reference, the timeline you’re entering when coming into the land is between the eighth and ninth film! Did you know there’s a hidden mini– Millennium Falcon ON the Falcon itself? Know where it is?
Teacups The teacups were our first ride EVER in the Magic Kingdom! We spun that thing so fast …you could hear the joy and excitement in our screams and laughs! What was your first ride EVER at a Disney Park? Share with us below. Ready to ride again? Let’s chat! Did you know the teacups were a Magic Kingdom opening day attraction? Can you name some others?
Tomorrowland Tomorrowland was a land that opened when the park itself opened on October 1, 1971. But it only featured two attractions, and Space Mountain wasn’t one of them! They were the Grand Prix Raceway and Skyway to Fantasyland, which, sadly, no longer exists. Rank your favorites! Choices – Space Mountain, Tomorrowland Transit Authority Peoplemover and Carousel of Progress.
Tower of Terror The Imagineers on the attraction watched every single episode of The Twilight Zone for inspiration, and it can be seen in the attraction’s queue area. There are a ton of easter eggs and the attention to detail is incredible. You might even spot some props used in actual episodes! The story of the hotel is that it was struck by lightning, and that’s the state you see it in. Do you know what date that strike occurred?
Tree of Life We encourage you to take the time and explore the paths that surround the Tree of Life at Animal Kingdom. They’re often overlooked as most others head straight for the main attractions. Here you’ll get a break from the crowds, an up-close view and excellent photo ops! There are 300 animals carved into the Tree of Life.
And did you know, it's NOT a Small World After All! Disney World encompasses over 50 square miles.
A quick example itinerary for starting a 3 day trip to WDW
This itinerary is chock full of park days. Consider checking out each park during the day and night. If the park time below is too much, you can always return to your hotel for pool time, check out Disney Springs or visit a waterpark!
DAY 1
Fly into Orlando in the morning and transfer to your hotel. Take your time in getting settled at the hotel and enjoy dinner onsite before an early sleep. Or, if you're feeling up to it, head to the Magic Kingdom! Try to hit some opening day attractions and maybe catch the nightly fireworks (if available).
DAY 2
Grab a quick to-go breakfast from the hotel and head to Epcot Center, or head to Epcot and go straight to Les Halles in the France pavilion for breakfast. Even though World Showcase typically opens later in the morning (around 11am) as compared to the rest of the park, Les Halles is typically open and serving. Return to your hotel in the middle of the day for a nap or swim, then head back out Hollywood Studios. If running, try to catch Fantasmic or Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular!
DAY 3
Grab a bite from the hotel or head to the Magic Kingdom for breakfast. Enjoy the morning exploring the park then return to your hotel. Spend some time relaxing and exploring — take a nap, enjoy the pool, partake in some activities, if available. After that if you're completely relaxed and feeling like hanging in, grab dinner on site. If you're up for it, head to Disney Springs for some shopping and dinner.

Sara Went Above & Beyond On my daughter's destination wedding
My daughter decided to have a 'destination wedding' and chose Punta Cana, Domican Republic as the place. Sara went above and beyond in securing a Resort that could meet her dreams. The Resort staff made sure, despite the rain, that it was a memorable event. The whole trip was great, Lopesan Costa Bavaro Resort was top shelf. Sara made sure we were kept up to date with everything we needed to travel in and out of DR. Thank you Sara Grimm for your help, I will use your service again and would recommend you to any needing travel arrangements! -T Bayless

Cannot say enough about how wonderful Sara was to work with on our honeymoon plans. I had initially reached out with some interest in Aruba, as she has deep expertise there. Amazing Aruba Honeymoon
We recently got back from our amazing honeymoon in Aruba!! It was our first time and an absolute dream. I am so happy I booked with Sara Grimm and grateful for all of her help after a complete mess created by a previous travel agent. Sara is so knowledgeable and always communicated quickly. I will definitely book future trips with her. We really wanted a relaxing vibe this vacation so spent a lot of time at the beach and pool. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency on Palm Beach. We were so happy with the resort. It was so beautiful and we liked that it was within walking distance of so many things. If you stay here, make sure you use the Hyatt's online booking system to reserve pool and palapas. I don't like planning things like this so far in advance and it gave me anxiety, but all turned out well in the end. I booked a front row palapa (for free) months prior (they reserve up to 4 months in advance). The rest of the time we just winged it and didn't have any issues finding a spot. Everyone is so friendly in Aruba!! It was nice being able to leave the resort and walk around and feel safe. Also, live shows at the outdoor mall across from our hotel. Food and drinks were a little more expensive than anticipated but also SO good. Taxi fares varied depending on who the driver was. I think one of our drivers must have decided to add a tip in the fare but she also told us about the island so we kinda got our own mini personal tour so oh well. Next time we will rent a car and do more exploring. We did a sunset catamaran cruise on the pelican which departed from pier right by our hotel. Cost wasn't much plus you get drinks and apps. It was really fun and kite surfers all around us (one actually ran into the side of the boat). I had 2 nice dinners planned. Flying Fishbone was really cool dining in the water. Fish swimming all around our feet. I noted it was our honeymoon at reservation so we got prime seating right by the edge and they surprised us with a happy honeymoon dessert with a sparkler. Food was delicious. The other was The Old Man and The Sea. This is a MUST! We also got an awesome spot right at the waters edge perfect during sunset. This was the most romantic dinner I've ever had. The whole ambiance was incredible. We also booked a couples massage at Renaissance Island one day. We had to pay additional $25 pp for boat to take us to the island and our morning package came with fruit platter and 4 drinks. 50 min massage with 2.5 hrs total to stay in the private cabana to enjoy. Then you can stay on the island the rest of the day and see the flamingos. This was awesome!! The massage and use of the cabana was worth every penny!! The whole trip was unforgettable. I can't wait until we can go back again one day and take our kids. This was my favorite vacation thus far!

Wonderful Vacation
Just got back from a wonderful vacation (surprise retirement gift for my husband). Aruba is beautiful and everyone we met was so nice. One of the BEST VACATIONS EVER!
We had one of the best vacations ever!!! The water is gorgeous blue, the sand was a pinkish white and the weather could not have been better. Lopesan in the Dominican Republic was beautiful, the service was impeccable and we could not get over how clean it was. It exceeded all expectations. Thank you for all your help. Sara you went over and beyond to make sure everything was perfect and that is what it was.

Hi everyone, I got married last week Sep.4th and wanted to do a review to share all our amazing vendors! The day (actually week) was absolutely magical and perfect in every way! We celebrated with 85 of our closest friends and family 💕
Stay- Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris® Casino this was our venue and where all our guest stayed. For the stay I would say no one beats the hospitality of the Marriott. Everyone knew who we were and treated us like royalty before and after the wedding. All our guest were happy with accommodatings as well. The lobby bar was perfect for gathering before and after dinners and the casino was perfect for late night drinks. We did a few pool days and a few beach days and even worked with the hotel to rent out 10-15 palapas all near each other one day for a fun filled beach day.
Venue - Aruba Marriott Stellaris- for venue this was a dream. Ceremony was on the beach cocktail hour on La Vista patio reception on south beach After party in the grand ballroom We worked coordinator and travel agent Sara Grimm and I can’t put into words how wonderful she was. She literally took care of everything and made sure our vision came to life. We had a large and crazy bridal party of 20 people and she somehow managed to wrangle them all during the rehearsal and the wedding (not an easy task). Aside from day of, I had worked with her for 8 months prior planning and she was always on her A game. She made sure we had everything we wanted and never got frustrated with our many changes leading up to it. She executed the day of perfectly 👌🏻 The food at cocktail hour and the reception was AMAZING! Possibly the best meal I’ve had! Everyone of our gust raves about how amazing the food was 🙌🏻🙌🏻 Decor - Perfect Team Event Planners We used Rossety from team perfect for all our decor needs and when I say she made my vision come to life, I mean it! I had a very specific vision in my head of how I wanted everything to look, from the doors down the aisle to the shape of the lanterns hanging at reception and the floral arrangements, she made it all come together in the most magical way. The night before the wedding they started the build out of our dance floor and all the trusses, it was crazy to see how much hard work went into building my dream wedding. There’s a reason why they are all called Perfect team events! I know a few ladies in the group mentioned having a hard time getting a hold of her while planning and while I do agree I will say this… first off Island time, if you’re from the states just remember the culture difference, 2nd they are busy working on events that are currently happening (large installations and build outs) and making brides dreams come true. When its your day, you will thank your lucky stars for all the effort they put in to make your day magical. Trust me they are a must !
Photography - Demian Gibbs I’ll start off by saying that photography was always the most important part of my wedding and I knew I needed the best of the best. Even back in December when we visited, my husband asked if I wanted to do a make up or hair trial, I said no, I want a photographer trial 🤣. At the end of the day when all the planning is over and you’ve danced the night away, pictures are all you will be left with. Believe me when I say this is not something you want to cheap out on! We did an engagement shoot with Demian back in December and knew right then and there we needed to have him for our wedding! Him and his wife have an amazing ability to make anyone feel comfortable in front of the camera and are beyond professional and creative in their work. We did an adventure shoot before the wedding with them and our videographer and WOW do they know what they are doing! It was so much fun and while I didn’t get to see all the pictures yet, the few I saw are absolutely breathtaking. Mary Ann (Demian wife and partner ) was incredible, she had a vision for the shoot and I could see the creative wheels turning in her head during the shoot. 1000% recommend ! We can’t wait to go back to Aruba and hire them again for family shoots or really just to see them because they were so awesome! Videographer - Little Island Stories While I think the video attached speaks for itself, I’ll still leave a review because Sebastian was absolutely AMAZING! We came across Sebastian through our photographer Demian and let me tell you, these two work together like an absolute dream team! We got to know Sebastian in the months and weeks leading up to the wedding, he really took the time to get to know us as a couple and what’s important for us to be to captured. Similar to photography, video is not something we wanted to cheap out on, again it’s all we have left once the wedding is over and I’ll be honest, I’ve probably watched our teaser over 100000 times in the last week. pure perfection! Sebastian joined us on the adventure shoot, a group excursion and then the wedding. We wanted him to capture all the fun we had that week and not just wedding and we’re so happy with the outcome! We choose Sebastian because of his creativity, we didn’t want the typical mushy wedding video everyone has, we wanted something that was more us and having only viewed the teaser so far, I will say he 1000% nailed it. Make up and Hair - Marta Collell After stalking this group for weeks I knew right away I needed to have Marta as my make up artist. She was one of the 1st vendors I booked and I’m so happy I did (she gets booked out pretty far in advance). I did a trial with her a few days before the wedding and while I loved the look, it came out even more perfect the day of! As someone who doesn’t wear a lot of make up on an everyday basis I wanted a soft look but still bridal and she absolutely killed it! I felt like an actual princess. Hair - I had Marta’s team do my hair. I did the hair trial a few days before the wedding as well. For the trial I did an updo ( everyone kept telling me I had to do an updo because of the heat and humidity) and while it came out beautiful it just wasn’t me. I decided the day before the wedding I wanted side swept hair (that way it’s still down). I was very nervous not having done this style in the trial and risking it for the wedding. What if I hated it? But it came out perfect! Exactly what I wanted! And yes the curls fell (it was an extremely hot day) but even fallen my hair still looked great. Music - all booked though Rika and the Marriott Ceremony - violinist, this gave the perfect romantic touch walking down the aisle. I honestly don’t remember much of it but heard so many great things from our guest! I walked down to “can’t help falling in love with you” and the bridal party walked down to “La Vie En Rose”. We booked the violinist for a full hour so she played music as gust arrived to the ceremony and took their seats as well.
Cocktail hour- saxophonist, again I don’t remember much of this and only walked by cocktail hour, but my guest said it was beautiful. Reception- DJ Tino Tino was great! We gave him a play and do not play list and told him to feel out the crowd. I don’t think anyone sat in their seat for the entire reception and after party! He killed it!
Excursion- Jolly Pirates We rented out Jolly Pirates for our group, we had about 55 people come on the boat and it was WAY more fun than I expected! it was a great way to kick off the weekend and for everyone to get to know each other. Everyone was drinking and had a blast! Even our parents jumped off the rope swing 🙈
We brought some of our own liquor as we wanted a few very specific drinks, but other than that everything was included and perfect! The crew was amazing and the food delicious 😋 Rehearsal dinner - Azzurro We picked Azzurro because it’s one of favorite restaurants when we go to Aruba and wanted to share with all our family and friends. We invited the whole wedding to the rehearsal dinner not just the wedding party and it was perfect! We were seated for sunset and had a whole section of the restaurant just for our party. Day of food for bridal party- Picnics by Aimy So happy we found this vendor! We got several boards for the bridal and grooms suite with homemade sangria. Everything was delicious and just the right amount to keep us satisfied before the big day! Dress - Maggie Sottero Bridal shop - Park Avenue Bridal Bridesmaid Dresses - Azazie Groomsmen - Indochino All in all the wedding week was PERFECTION! -Moriah E.
Perfect Aruba Destination Wedding
Hi Brides! Apologies for the long overdue review- but I am not great at social media so cut me some slack. We got married back in August at the Riu Palace and had a great experience. Overall costs were about 10k for the wedding plus our stay & flight. Ceremony- We opted to do a ceremony on the beach, I feel like it was the right choice because hello we’re in Aruba, but if you are sensitive to strangers in the background of your photos maybe opt for the garden. The garden is gorgeous and a little more private. Keep in mind that it is a public beach and even at 6pm there are stragglers!
Reception- We did the pool bar area for some privacy (additional fee) It was excellent. We had 30 guests so 5 tables of 6, everything was gorgeous. Food- We had no diet restrictions so we did a sit-down dinner and verified with everyone ahead of time that steak would be the option, and our guests were fine with that. No additional fee for sit down private dinner if everyone orders the same thing. (Caesar salad, steak with veggie and potato, cake) I personally am an Italian from Long Island NY and food is my life, but it was great, no complaints from anyone! Drinks- Bartenders were great except for when one bartender told me to have some water and I laughed at him. Music/Photo- To the right of the tables was a dancefloor area and our DJ (on site) did an amazing job. We basically put together a list of must plays and he stuck to it. I can also send you that if you would like to peruse/ take. Used the on-site photo as well, no video. They were fine, but I would maybe do more research on outside companies. Also, maybe I just don’t photograph well lol. Wedding Coordinator-was awesome. Keep in mind that communication throughout is via email, so if you are a control freak like me, this may be the time you learn to let that shit go! We opted for no additional flower archways or centerpieces bc expensive, but our wedding coordinators literally stole them from the wedding the previous evening, so we got our archway and centerpieces for free! P.S if you got married at the RIU on August 18th, thanks a bunch! Hair/ Makeup- Hair done at the spa on site and boy did she deliver. She was a beautiful Dominican girl who listened to exactly what I wanted. Long waves with little braids throughout. However, kind of wish I listened to her when she said it is very windy maybe do an up do. I would recommend hair up, but I don’t love my hair up so if you opt for a down hairstyle, just know that the wind/ heat is a thing. Also did my makeup myself because I am alright at it (competition dancer my whole life), it came out great because I had a nice tan. Also, I got a full set of lash extensions prior so no stress on the lashes.
Dress/ How to fly with the dress – My dress was medium sized, I double garment bagged it, and put in the overhead bin. Jetblue. I had a steamer with me but didn’t even use because it was fine. Guest list- Overall experience is hard to beat in paradise but I will say this. PLEASE be overly picky on who you invite as you are quite literally stuck on an island with these people and unlimited booze for the duration of your stay. This is your special time with your spouse, do not feel any sort of way if you choose not to include someone for your own mental wellbeing! ~Christina Evensen~ Aruba Destination Bride -Christina Evensen

These eight island destinations are safely outside of the hurricane belt, making them the safest best for your summer vacation.
Unfortunately, hurricane season, which runs from June through the end of November, spans both wedding season and the entire summer vacation season when newlyweds and families head to the Caribbean for the sun, fun and beautiful beaches. But a pesky hurricane can certainly ruin anyone’s trip and be costly for hotel and flight cancellations.
You might be surprised to learn that there are some islands in the Caribbean that are outside of the hurricane belt and thus a safe bet during those summer months. Aruba, Bonaire Curaçao, Barbados, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada, Trinidad and Tobago, and San Andrés and Providencia Islands are all situated outside of the region in the Caribbean Sea where hurricanes more frequently occur.
So don’t worry. Go ahead and book that much-needed summer vacation.
1 of 8 ARUBA
Aruba doesn’t take its mantra, “One Happy Island” for granted. The island boasts 365 days of sunshine each year so there are no vacation spoilers here. The people are friendly, the activities are endless, and the winds offer a welcome breeze where windsurfing is a must-try sport for adrenaline junkies. While this island offers some of the best water sports activities, if you need to take a break from the beach, visit Aruba’s native Butterfly Farm.
Barbados is teeming with great beaches, vibrant nightlife, and some of the friendliest locals you’ll meet anywhere. Take in the rich culture and learn a few of the island’s local customs. Take a Bajan cuisine cooking class or learn to play a steel pan drum.
3 of 8 Bonaire
Bonaire is a Dutch Island nicknamed a “Diver’s Paradise,” thanks to its protected marine park where both snorkelers and scuba divers can experience some of the Caribbean’s most amazing underwater sea life. Bonaire is an island made for exploring. Rent a bike and explore some of the dozens of trails or take a guided tour of the scenic Washington Slagbaai National Park. If you’d like to go it on your own, there are blue-painted rocks that mark the island’s bike paths.
4 of 8 Curaçao
Curaçao, a Dutch Caribbean island, is known for its stunning azure blue seas against pristine white sand beaches, with hidden bays tucked into coves that offer some pretty impressive coral reefs rich with marine life.
If shopping is your favorite vacation past-time, you’ll love wandering the streets of Curaçao’s capital, Willemstad. In the arts district, local artisans line the cobblestone streets selling their unique creations. But don’t miss taking a social media photo on the street lined with famous rainbow-colored buildings.

Grenada, the Spice of the Caribbean, is the ultimate destination for foodies and beach lovers. There are dozens of spice plantations, five chocolate factories, and three rum distilliers that tantalize all of your senses. No trip to Grenada would be complete without a visit to the spice and chocolate plantations. But even better, the island’s culinary tours are the best way to satisfy your tastebuds.
6 of 8 St. Vincent & the Grenadines
St Vincents & the Grenadines actually consist of 32 islands known for lush tropical landscapes and some of the Caribbean’s most beautiful coral reefs and turquoise lagoons. Bequia, the second largest island in the group and sister island to celebrity-favorite Mustique, is all about ambiance.
Hiking is the best way to explore the island and capture some amazing views of this part of the Caribbean. Hike up to Bequia’s highest point, Ma Peggy, which offers panoramic views of the neighboring islands.
7 of 8 San Andrés & Providencia
Two relatively unknown islands off the coast of Colombia and nearby Nicaragua, San Andrés & Providencia , are stunning, unspoiled, and most of all, off the beaten path for most Caribbean travelers. Visit Old Point Regional Mangrove Park, a wildlife sanctuary where you can learn all about the island’s crabs, iguanas, and migratory birds.
Trinidad and Tobago, sister islands near Venezuela, each have their own distinctive personality. Trinidad is all about celebrating its Creole traditions and cuisines and that lively feeling is spread throughout the island. If laying on the beach is on your agenda, Tobago is best known for its tranquil beaches including Turtle Beach, where leatherbacks nest for the season. Spend a day exploring the massive Queen’s Park Savannah, followed by a visit to the Royal Botanic Gardens and Emperor Valley Zoo.
You have plenty of time to plan for next summer's ultimate romantic event. The Caribbean’s largest vow renewal ceremony will take place on August 9, 2023, at sunset on the shores of Eagle Beach, voted the #1 Best Beach in the Caribbean by TripAdvisor’s Traveler's Choice Awards 2023.
This will be the 5th edition of the Aruba I Do Vow Renewal Ceremony, where hundreds of couples from all over the world honor their love. We’re setting the scene for an unforgettable evening of toes-in-the-sand romance. Bring your life partner and say “I do” again! Attire: Participants are encouraged to wear white with pops of Caribbean colors | Ceremony cost: Free
Any married couples visiting Aruba the week of August 9, you’re in luck. Each year there is a fantastic FREE to attend event called “Aruba I Do” it’s the largest wedding vows renewal in the Caribbean. It’s FREE and nobody will try to sell you anything. It’s just a great event and lots of fun. The last one I attended had over 300 couples there including some celebrities. They had hors d’oeuvres, and champagne available for everybody at no cost, plus a lot of wedding arches where you could take pictures.

My Family and Friends love to travel to Aruba each year. I have gone to Aruba every year since I was young. I was married in Aruba in 2014 on Eagle Beach. I now have 4 kids and we now travel with them to Aruba each year so they can make the same wonderful memories I had as a child.
