Some of the top activities Costa Rica has to offer...
You want to visit Costa Rica! Awesome, we can help get you there. But one of the questions we’ll ask in helping you do so is what you’d like to see and do there. Relax? Explore nature? Seek adventure? All the above and more? Probably. There is just so much available, we’ll need to have a serious discussion on what your priorities are. To help we’ve put together a list of eight of the best activities to do during your visit. After reading let us know what’s on the top of yours!
8 Great Activities Costa Rica Has To Offer
1. Hiking – An activity that likely is top of mind when you think of Costa Rica and there certainly is no shortage of places to do so. Volcanoes, beaches, cloud forests – the choice is yours. Once that’s settled, think about the level of difficulty you’re comfortable with. These two things will help in the best recommendation. Additionally, it is suggested you consider guided hikes. Your expert leader will be able to provide general assistance and a trained eye to spot wildlife.
2. Surfing – Surfers from around the world frequent Costa Rica year-round because of its warm waters and waves. Choose your coast – Pacific or Caribbean, select your level of experience – beginner, intermediate, or advanced. We can even make some recommendations. If you’re in need of a lesson, they’re typically easy to find, even just by stepping foot on some beaches!
3. Snorkeling and Scuba – Wildlife sightings aren’t limited to land. There are 7,000+ marine species that can be found in Costa Rica’s surrounding waters. So, it is no surprise that it is on the top of the list for water activities. If you’re a snorkeler, think about if you’d like to do so by boat or shore. If a diver, we can help recommend dive sites. Just let us know your level of experience.
4. Whitewater Rafting – Costa Rica provides a stunning background for this adventure. There are a few areas that would be recommended if this is something you’d like to do. Beginner or advanced, let us know what intensity of rapids you’re comfortable with, and we can point you in the right direction. If the kiddos are up for the challenge, there are some options that are suitable for them too. It’s a great family activity!
5. Visit Waterfalls – Some of the most picturesque sights in Costa Rica can be found at its numerous waterfalls. After all, there’s something so magical about water cascading over a cliff to the pools below. There are plenty of options to choose from, just keep in mind a few things. Some falls will require a hike to access, entrance fees will vary, and some allow swimming while others do not. Also consider a guided tour if you won’t have access to a rental car during your stay.
6. Zip Lining – If you’ve Googled “excursions in Costa Rica” you’ve likely seen a picture of someone effortlessly flying over green canopy, rivers, and cliffs. It’s a very popular activity that can be found all over the country. You should expect a safety demo and a short hike. Then you’ll glide line by line, each getting a little longer than the one before. If you’re an adrenaline seeker this is a must do! If not, we wouldn’t recommend it. Do not invest money in something if you’re not 100% comfortable with.
7. Bird Watching – It isn’t unusual for people to travel to Costa Rica for this very reason. Some enthusiasts even build a whole itinerary around this activity. There is 900+ species and most often seen will likely be toucans, macaws, and hummingbirds. Because the country is so eco-diverse, make a couple of watching stops. Don’t forget your binoculars and camera!
8. Yoga – Yes, you read that right! Costa Rica is indeed a haven for yoga lovers. You could see or take a class quite literally anywhere – a resort, beach, volcano, or rainforest. If you’re a beginner, give it a try at least once. If you’re a wellness enthusiast and it’s your reason for travel, it belongs on your list. Think wellness retreat, group trip for your studio, location for instructor training or continuing education.
There you have it, some of the best that Costa Rica has to offer! Of course, there’s a ton more that isn’t listed, so if you have any questions let us know. If you’re ready to explore all that Costa Rica has to offer, please feel free to reach out!

Why Taking a Trip Over Thanksgiving or Christmas is a GREAT Idea
The holiday season is often synonymous with family gatherings, packed schedules, and a touch of chaos. But what if you swapped the stress for sandy beaches, snowy adventures, or a relaxing resort stay this year? Here’s why taking a trip over Thanksgiving or Christmas is a GREAT idea:
1. Escape the Holiday Stress Let’s be honest – cooking a massive meal, hosting guests, and juggling endless holiday errands can be exhausting. A trip allows you to enjoy the season without the pressure of planning, cleaning, and cooking. Let someone else take care of the details while you relax!
2. Create New Family Traditions Holidays don't have to be celebrated the same way every year. Why not start a new tradition? Whether it’s a tropical Thanksgiving dinner on the beach or celebrating Christmas in a cozy cabin surrounded by snow, these experiences can create memories that last a lifetime.
3. Fewer Crowds in Some Destinations Thanksgiving, in particular, is an ideal time to travel to places that don’t celebrate the holiday. European cities, tropical islands, and international destinations tend to be quieter, with shorter lines and fewer crowds. Bonus: it might even feel like you have the place to yourself!
4. All-Inclusive Resorts Do the Work for You At an all-inclusive resort, there’s no need to worry about holiday cooking or cleaning up after guests. Enjoy a gourmet meal, festive decorations, and holiday activities without lifting a finger. Plus, many resorts go all out for Christmas and Thanksgiving with themed events and entertainment.
5. Perfect Time for Family Bonding A vacation allows you to focus on what truly matters: spending quality time with loved ones. Leave behind the usual distractions and enjoy uninterrupted moments, whether you’re swimming in the ocean, skiing down a mountain, or savoring hot cocoa by a fire.
6. Holiday Sales and Travel Deals While it may seem counterintuitive, some destinations offer fantastic holiday travel packages. If you book early, you can score amazing deals at luxury resorts or flights. And if you time your trip right, you can even sneak in some Black Friday or post-Christmas shopping!
7. Make the Most of PTO Taking a trip during the holidays is a smart way to maximize your paid time off. Many offices and businesses close or slow down during this period, so you can use fewer vacation days while still enjoying a much-needed break.
8. The Gift of Experience Rather than spending money on gifts that might be forgotten, why not invest in an unforgettable trip? Traveling together as a family or with your partner can be the best holiday gift of all – one that fills your heart with joy and gives you memories to cherish forever.
This holiday season, skip the stress and do something *different*. Whether it’s lounging by the pool in Mexico, exploring a new city, or renting a cabin in the mountains, taking a trip over Thanksgiving or Christmas could be the best holiday decision you’ve ever made.
Book your trip today – email me at briana.capps@vincentvacations.com ! ✨
Which Disney World Park is the Best? It All Depends on You!
One of the most frequent questions I get asked as a travel advisor is, “Which Disney World Park is the best?” The truth is, there’s no definitive answer, and that’s because the “best” park depends entirely on your personal preferences, who you’re traveling with, and even what time of year you visit.
With Kids: Magic Kingdom is King
For families traveling with kids, Magic Kingdom is often the hands-down favorite. From the moment you walk down Main Street U.S.A. and see Cinderella Castle towering in the distance, it’s like stepping into a storybook. Classic attractions like 'It’s a Small World,' 'Dumbo the Flying Elephant,' and 'Pirates of the Caribbean' bring the magic to life, and there’s something truly special about watching your child’s face light up when they meet Mickey Mouse in person.
Magic Kingdom also offers a wide range of parades, shows, and character meet-and-greets, making it an ideal park for kids who want to experience the full Disney magic. Plus, if you're visiting during the holidays—whether it's Halloween with Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party or Christmas with Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party—the seasonal décor and festivities only add to the enchantment.
No Kids? Epcot Might Be Your Speed
If you’re visiting Disney World without kids, Epcot often takes the crown as the favorite park for adults. This park has a more laid-back, mature vibe, and the mix of futuristic attractions like Spaceship Earth and cultural experiences in the World Showcase make it perfect for those looking to slow down and savor the experience.
A big highlight for many adults is *drinking around the world*, where you can enjoy beverages from different countries, including margaritas in Mexico, beer in Germany, and sake in Japan. If you're a foodie, time your trip for Epcot’sInternational Food & Wine Festival (held in the fall), where you can taste dishes from all over the globe while strolling through the park. Epcot also transforms into a floral wonderland during the International Flower & Garden Festival in the spring, making it a stunning park to visit in any season.
Adults-Only at Magic Kingdom? Yes, Please!
Surprisingly, even though Magic Kingdom is often seen as the “kids’ park,” it’s just as perfect for adults on an adults-only trip. There’s something nostalgic and heartwarming about reliving your childhood memories through iconic rides like *Peter Pan’s Flight* and *Haunted Mansion*.
For adults, Magic Kingdom at night is particularly magical. The fireworks show, Happily Ever After, is an absolute must-see, and it has an emotional pull that transcends age. Visiting during the cooler months can also make for a more comfortable experience, and the holidays offer a cozy, festive atmosphere that’s perfect for adults looking to unwind in the most magical place on earth.
Hollywood Studios: A Galaxy Far, Far Away
For some people, Hollywood Studios is the best park due to its more action-packed and immersive experiences. If you're a Star Wars fan, Galaxy's Edge is a dream come true. Between flying the Millennium Falcon on Smuggler’s Run or joining the Resistance on Rise of the Resistance, it’s easy to see why many travelers make Hollywood Studios their top choice.
Plus, if you're a fan of Pixar, Toy Story Land is a must-visit. Adults and kids alike love taking each other on Toy Story Mania or shrinking down to toy size on Slinky Dog Dash. With its mix of thrill rides like The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and immersive lands, Hollywood Studios can appeal to anyone looking for an adventure.
What’s the Best Park for You?
At the end of the day, the best Disney World Park depends on you—who you’re traveling with, what you love, and even what time of year you're visiting. Whether you’re all about the magic and nostalgia of Magic Kingdom, the international flair of Epcot, the action-packed excitement of Hollywood Studios, or any of the other Disney parks, there’s no wrong answer.
The magic of Disney is that it truly offers something for everyone, no matter your age or stage of life. So, which park do you think is the best? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
