You want to avoid costly mistakes that new agents make. You don't want to fall prey to bad travel agents setups because there's a lot of them out there. You want to avoid tire kicker clients that might be wasting your time or you're worried about them wasting your time.
Or maybe if you're an experienced agent, you might be facing lead flow issues and acquiring new clients. If you don't know what marketing works best in today's marketplace, that is a very common challenge towards the beginning of your career in this industry. Maybe you don't know how to attract ideal clients. Maybe you're seeing other agents out there making the income or living the life that you want and you just don't know how to replicate their success.
Maybe you love the industry, but you need to make more money before you can make it a full time venture. Or if you have difficulty positioning yourself as an expert, you are in great company. Everyone that you see on this picture ask themselves these same questions at one point in time. Do you wonder if you really have what it takes to make a full time income at this?

That's my personal favorite, and you'll be able to skyrocket to seven plus figure sales and beyond. So, #1 - as a new travel agent, it is generally advisable to avoid joining a multi-level marketing (MLM) travel agency for several reasons.
MLM business models are structured in a way that may not be beneficial for your long-term success and can potentially lead to a variety of challenges. Here are some reasons to consider:
1. MLMs focus on recruitment over sales: MLM travel agencies prioritize recruiting new agents rather than focusing on selling travel products or services. The emphasis is on building a downline of agents under you and earning commissions from their sales. This can divert your attention away from developing your own skills, knowledge, and customer base, limiting your potential for personal growth as a travel agent.
2. High startup costs and ongoing expenses: MLM travel agencies often require significant upfront fees and ongoing costs to join and maintain membership. These expenses can include purchasing travel packages, paying for training programs, and maintaining a personal website. Such financial commitments can put unnecessary strain on your budget, especially when you're just starting your career.
3. Limited control and autonomy: MLM travel agencies typically have strict rules and guidelines that agents must follow, which can restrict your flexibility and autonomy as a travel professional. You may have limited control over pricing, product selection, and marketing strategies. This lack of independence can hinder your ability to tailor your services to meet the unique needs and preferences of your clients.
4. Focus on internal consumption: MLM companies often encourage agents to primarily sell travel packages to fellow agents within the MLM network, rather than targeting the broader market. This internal focus can create a closed loop of sales that may limit your exposure to new clients and potentially restrict your earning potential.
5. Reputation concerns: MLM business models have faced criticism and skepticism due to the inherent structure that resembles a pyramid scheme. This negative perception may affect your credibility as a travel professional and make it more challenging to build trust with potential clients who are wary of MLM companies.
6. Lack of professional support and training: While some MLM travel agencies offer training programs, the quality and depth of training provided may vary. It's important to carefully evaluate the training and support system in place before committing to an MLM travel agency. In many cases, traditional travel agencies or industry organizations can provide more comprehensive and reputable training opportunities to help you develop your skills and knowledge.
Joining an MLM travel agency may not align with your long-term goals of establishing a successful and reputable travel agency. Instead, consider exploring other options, such as working with an established travel agency, building your own independent brand, or seeking partnerships with trusted suppliers in the industry. These alternatives can offer more control, flexibility, and opportunities for growth as a travel professional.
So there are five simple steps we're going to go through today that you need to take to achieve seven figure sales while working less and traveling more. We are going to walk you through the exact steps today and a little bit about our travel agencies.
We have trained thousands of travel agents in multiple niches / specialties. We have a lot of experience and a lot of wealth and knowledge to share with you.
We have won some amazing awards through the years, top sales, top agents covering Hawaii, on the board for the top airlines and travel suppliers and so much more.
And what we found by working with so many new agents over the years is a lot of people don't know some of this foundational information that is so key. So first thing is it can be an amazing industry if, you know the right set up. That is so important. Yes, the perks are really cool. Don't do it just for the travel perks.
Travel agents are in high demand, and this demand continues to grow. People are really counting on the expertise of travel agents to help them through the booking process. As the world has become more complicated, we are becoming more important as the role that we play in the booking process and some more things to understand are becoming a travel agent is not like booking travel for yourself.
Booking for a client, making sure that you're doing everything properly, is a little bit different than booking for yourself. You also want to be skilled and you want to be adept. It's so key, especially in today's environment, that is so critical for new travel agents to understand and also understand that travel is more complicated post-pandemic.
One of the most important points we are going to cover - as an independent travel agent, how can I produce seven figure sales?
Producing seven-figure sales as an independent travel agent requires a combination of:
Strategic planning, effective marketing, exceptional customer service, and a strong network of clients. Here are some steps you can take to increase your sales and achieve your revenue goals:
1. Identify your target market: Define your niche and identify the specific demographic or clientele you want to focus on. This could be luxury travelers, adventure seekers, honeymooners, corporate clients, or any other segment. By specializing in a particular market, you can tailor your services and marketing efforts to attract clients who are more likely to spend significant amounts on travel.
2. Build strong relationships: Cultivate strong relationships with your clients by providing personalized service, understanding their preferences, and exceeding their expectations. By building trust and rapport, you can establish a loyal customer base that will continue to book with you and refer others.

Develop a user-friendly website that showcases your expertise, services, and testimonials. Utilize social media platforms to engage with potential clients and share valuable content that positions you as an authority in the industry.

7. Invest in marketing and advertising: Develop a comprehensive marketing strategy that includes both online and offline channels. Utilize social media advertising, search engine optimization (SEO), content marketing, email campaigns, and traditional advertising methods to reach your target audience. Measure the effectiveness of your marketing efforts and adjust your strategies accordingly.
8. Continuously educate yourself: Stay updated on industry trends, new destinations, and emerging technologies. Attend industry conferences, join travel associations, and participate in training programs to enhance your skills and knowledge. Being well-informed allows you to offer expert advice and stay ahead of the competition.
9. Network and collaborate: Engage with other professionals in the travel industry, such as tour operators, event planners, and local businesses. Collaborate on joint marketing efforts, referrals, and cross-promotions. Networking can expand your reach and open up new opportunities for partnerships and sales.
10. Set ambitious goals and track your progress: Set specific sales goals and regularly track your progress to ensure you stay on target. Analyze your sales data, identify patterns, and adjust your strategies to maximize your sales performance.
Achieving seven-figure sales requires dedication, perseverance, and a commitment to excellence. It may take time to reach this level, but with a strategic approach, consistent effort, and a focus on delivering exceptional value, you can increase your sales and build a thriving independent travel agency.
Being an independent contractor means 100% flexibility
There is no 9 to 5! You work for yourself. In this industry you are responsible for growing your business. Training is also your responsibility. Marketing is your responsibility, and protecting your business is your job with being a travel agent / travel advisor in how our travel businesses are in the world today, particularly in the US.
It is a different business model in how travel agents are staffed. So that is why you're working for yourself. You're responsible for growing your own business. You have to do your own training because you are a contractor, you are not an employee. Your own marketing is going to be expected no matter who you work for, and protecting your business and acting in your best interests is your job to make sure that you're doing those things.
#1 - Your Business is Portable, You Are Truly Working a Remote Travel Agent Job From Home

So the first thing is you want to make sure your business is portable. You want to use technology that allows you to work from anywhere. You don't need a brick and mortar store front, or any physical location to work out of. So you don't need that extra overhead and hassle keeping the doors unlocked and the lights on.
And you also want your business to be portable so it can be the most scalable model as possible. You can scale that business up and make as much profit as we can in the least amount of time.
In an era where freedom and flexibility are valued more than ever, being an independent travel agent opens up a world of opportunities to create a thriving business that can be carried with you wherever you go.
you have the unique advantage of being able to take your business on the road, quite literally. Gone are the days of being tied down to a physical office space or limited to serving clients within a specific geographic location. With the power of technology, a passion for travel, and a touch of entrepreneurial spirit, you can build a portable business that adapts to your lifestyle, allowing you to explore new horizons while serving your clients with dedication and expertise.
The concept of portability in the travel industry has become increasingly relevant in recent years. More travelers are seeking personalized experiences, and they value the expertise and insights that independent travel agents bring to the table. By embracing the portability of your business, you can cater to these modern-day travelers who appreciate the convenience of virtual interactions and personalized service, regardless of their location.
One of the greatest advantages of a portable business as an independent travel agent is the freedom it offers. Imagine having the flexibility to work from anywhere in the world, whether it's from the sandy shores of a tropical paradise, a bustling café in a vibrant city, or the comfort of your own home. Your office becomes your laptop, and your desk transforms into a panoramic view of the world. The ability to work remotely empowers you to integrate your love for travel seamlessly into your professional life, creating a lifestyle that is both fulfilling and financially rewarding.
Moreover, the portability of your business extends beyond physical location. As an independent travel agent, you have the flexibility to adapt to changing market trends and consumer demands. You can specialize in specific niches, curate unique travel experiences, and pivot your business strategy as needed to cater to the evolving needs of your clients. This agility allows you to stay ahead of the curve, exploring emerging destinations and offering innovative solutions that set you apart from the crowd.
The nice thing is you don't have to sell the whole world. Especially starting out, it will help yourself and everyone you work with, to work in a niche. Pick one niche and become an expert at it. This can be Disney, cruises, all inclusives, Europe, etc. And over time, as you gain experience you can increase into representing more niches.
Whatever you are most passionate about, your favorite thing to sell, you can start with a niche business and you can building block it. Or some agents just love one niche. That's they just really lean into that. You do not have to sell the whole world to be successful or to reach seven figure sales. So know that going in, make a list of everywhere that you've been and then decide on the type of travel you're most interested in.
That's a great way to decide what you're going to sell.
Choosing a niche as a travel agent can help you differentiate yourself in the market and attract clients who are specifically interested in the type of travel experiences you specialize in. Here are some steps to help you identify a niche to focus on selling:
1. Assess your interests and expertise: Start by evaluating your own interests, passions, and areas of expertise within the travel industry. Consider your personal travel experiences, hobbies, or any specialized knowledge you possess. Identifying areas that genuinely excite you will make it easier to market and sell those types of travel experiences.
2. Research market trends and demands: Conduct thorough market research to identify emerging travel trends and demands. Look for gaps or underserved segments in the market where you can potentially position yourself as an expert. Examine industry reports, travel publications, online forums, and social media groups to gather insights on travel preferences, emerging destinations, and niche markets.
3. Consider your target audience: Think about the specific demographic or clientele you want to target. Consider factors such as age, income level, interests, and travel preferences. This will help you determine the types of experiences that will resonate with your ideal clients.
4. Identify underserved or specialized markets: Look for niches within the travel industry that are underserved or have limited competition. Examples of niche markets could include adventure travel, luxury travel, wellness retreats, honeymoons, family vacations, LGBTQ+ travel, eco-tourism, or destination weddings. Narrowing down your focus can allow you to become an expert in that particular area and tailor your marketing efforts accordingly.
5. Evaluate your local or regional advantages: Consider the unique aspects of your location that can be leveraged as a selling point. Do you live in a popular tourist destination, near a specific attraction, or in a region with distinct cultural experiences? Utilize these advantages to focus on selling travel experiences related to your location or region.
6. Assess profitability and market potential: While passion and expertise are essential, it's also important to evaluate the market potential and profitability of your chosen niche. Research the spending habits and purchasing power of your target audience within the niche you're considering. Determine if there is a viable market size and if the niche can generate sustainable revenue for your business.
7. Test your niche: Before fully committing to a niche, test the waters by offering a few itineraries or packages to clients within that niche. This will help you gauge the level of interest and demand for your chosen specialization. Use client feedback and sales data to refine your offerings and make any necessary adjustments.
8. Continuously adapt and evolve: The travel industry is dynamic, so it's crucial to stay flexible and adaptable. Monitor industry trends, customer feedback, and market changes to adjust your niche focus over time. Keep seeking new opportunities and be open to expanding or refining your niche as needed.
Remember, choosing a niche is a strategic decision, and it's important to find a balance between your own interests, market demand, and profitability. By identifying a niche that aligns with your passion, expertise, and market potential, you can position yourself as a specialist in that area and attract clients who are specifically interested in the travel experiences you offer.
If you're serious about growing, you're ready for the challenge of developing your own leads and servicing your clients, you do not want to work for someone else and be employed as a travel agent. For some, they are happy with this role, but there is so much flexibility and control you gain with being a fully independent travel agent. Instead of being tied to a salary, you are working for your own sales and commissions.
Your set up is the most important choice in the in the source for scalable success in the in the setup process and also for scalable success. And I think you should avoid the MLMs. I do not have a great reputation in our industry and I can I can speak to this because I have a ton of people that come to me every single year from MLMs and we work to understand where they're at.
In a world of ever-evolving travel trends and an increasing desire for personalized adventures, being a fully independent travel agent allows you to take control of your destiny and build a business that reflects your unique vision and expertise. It's a path that provides freedom, fulfillment, and the opportunity to create a career that aligns with your passions and aspirations.
One of the most remarkable advantages of being a fully independent travel agent is the freedom to chart your own course. Gone are the constraints of working within the confines of a larger travel agency or adhering to corporate policies. As an independent agent, you have the power to shape your business, set your own working hours, and choose the destinations and experiences that ignite your excitement. Your creativity knows no bounds as you design tailor-made itineraries, handpick hidden gems, and craft immersive journeys that leave a lasting impression on your clients.
Moreover, being fully independent means you have the flexibility to cater to a diverse range of clients and cater to their unique needs and desires. Whether it's arranging a romantic honeymoon getaway, orchestrating a thrilling adventure excursion, or curating a family vacation filled with unforgettable moments, you have the autonomy to create travel experiences that resonate with your clients' dreams.
Beyond the freedom and flexibility, being a fully independent travel agent allows you to develop deep and meaningful connections with your clients. By working directly with them, you can provide a personalized touch that goes beyond a transactional relationship. You become their trusted advisor, their go-to expert in the world of travel, and an integral part of their journey. The satisfaction derived from helping clients create lifelong memories and witnessing the joy on their faces is truly unparalleled.
In addition to the personal fulfillment, being a fully independent travel agent presents exciting opportunities for professional growth and financial success. As you build your reputation and network, you have the potential to attract a loyal client base that values your expertise and relies on your guidance. With each successful booking, you not only reap the financial rewards but also enhance your industry knowledge, expand your horizons, and elevate your standing in the travel community.
First, what we're going to cover here is hosting under an agency.
The most important thing to remember, the agency you work with wants you to be wildly successful. Why? The agency only makes money when you are doing a great job selling and closing.
So this is if you are going to be an independent contractor under an existing agency, here are some pros to this setup. You don't have to have experience. You're working under probably an established brand. You're using someone else's credentials to book travel. They do the accounting for you, they do some supplier training, and you will get some level of support.
Now, the cons to this model is in exchange for that, you have to give them a percentage of all of the commissions that you earn. They're not going to provide everything for free. So you're going to share a percentage of your commission. You're also going to have to pay normally a startup fee plus monthly fees. They have admin costs there.
You have to pay the agency to do all of those things. They've already set up the branding. So there are going to be some costs involved to be under that model. You're not going to get business training and this is one that a lot of people don't recognize.
You want to make sure and work with an agency that has flexibility - Can I charge fees? Can I customize things? Can I do things a certain way? Can I use a certain software? There might be rules that you don't like to use, so just understand when you are working under another agency that those are some of the things that would be cons. All right, let's talk about the fully independent agent.
So the pro the number one thing on pros, of course, is you get to keep a majority of your commissions. You are going to get to keep most of the money from the trips that you book. You get to make all of the rules. You can even negotiate your commissions. You potentially could get higher commission percentages from the suppliers that you work with the most.
It is the most scalable model to be fully independent. Based on your relationships and sales, you can get supplier perks. Our agents get them all the time, fam trips, cruise ship and resort tours, and different perks and different things that are going on and fam opportunities. Fam is short for a familiarization trip. Those are industry trips that we get to take. As the owner of your own travel business, you can get rewarded with those types of things versus when you're working for someone else.
So having those opportunities as an independent agent is a lot of fun.
And there's more monetizing potential in this model because obviously when you go fully independent, you can monetize so many things in different ways. There's unlimited growth in this model and you can add your own staff. Our top agents have an assistant that works solely for them, and many hire contractors to manage their newsletters, mailings, social media, etc. That is really a powerful thing. Once you're a great travel agent, a lot of you might have an ambition to grow a team or you might have a heart to lead and want to start growing your team.
I want you to remember these things. I want you to protect your best interest. You need to always ask questions that are based on your best interest. And also you need to know how to generate your own leads. None of these setups are going to just deliver leads to you if you don't know how to do that yourself, even if you are working for someone else, they are going to say You're building a business under mine.
You have to go out and hustle for your own leads so it doesn't matter. You're not that process is not easier from one setup to another. You're also going to have to train and certify yourself. So if you want to become a certified travel agent with companies, don't do that for you in that contractor situation. So just know that if you want to get certified, you would have to do that yourself.
And also certification is not required in our industry. Okay, But it does help you and we'll talk a little bit about that later as well. You also will have to be ready to market yourself and or your business. You have to have the ability to close sales. We are going to actually dive into sales today and give you some great tips on that.
You have to invest in yourself, in your business to grow. That's any businesses out there, guys. I don't think that comes as a surprise to anyone. All right. So hopefully you have a good idea of maybe which setup might be right for you. Let's talk about no matter which one you pick, let's talk about some fun stuff.
Travel agent discounts
Do you guys know about these big secrets that are out there? Yes, We have amazing travel agent discounts. And let me go through a few of them. We have special travel agent rates with a lot of supplier names that you would recognize.
We get to take fam trips. I just took one a few weeks ago and it was amazing. So I love there's nothing like a free trip, right? And when I say free, you normally have to pay by your own airline ticket, although sometimes they do cover your airline ticket. But at any rate, fam trips are fun. They're a great opportunity to get to know product and suppliers want you to know your product.
That's why they give travel agents free trips. You can also register with suppliers for perks and discounts. You can get vendor rewards for training so you can earn, earn different prizes and different discounts and different things with different travel agent trainings that are out there. There's a lot of contests that get run from time to time.
There's also travel agent loyalty programs. If you're rewarding a certain brand, there's different things that you can earn there. And free cruises. I know about three different cruise lines that offer free cruises, so lots of fantastic discounts out there as you become an agent. These are things you get to enjoy because you are in our industry. We are going to give you some specific examples.
Right now, Disney offers free and discounted park passes and room discounts. Princess and Virgin, you have free cruises. Those are two of the three that I know of, a cash reward program. Tons of suppliers offering fam trips. Hyatt, Marriott, Fairmont and many, many, many more have agent discount program. There's really just too many to list.
If you guys hate sales or it makes you feel cringe, you're like, you don't like the idea of closing sales. It can be so much easier than the new thing. So we're going to dive into that, too. So let's talk about how to sell top dollar lightning fast. Now more than ever, people really want to know how you can help them.
You want clients to connect with you quickly. And on an authentic level, people listen to you only once and decide to trust you. They know that you understand their specific needs, which is why your unique life experiences are all you need to be successful. So I mentioned earlier that travel professionals are in such high demand, right? It's been on Forbes, USA Today, Travel Weekly.
Those are your big things like Expedia, Booking.com, a lot of them tarnish their service reputations through the pandemic because everything happened at once and it just people were left places, things were canceled. There was just a customer service was seven, 8 hours long and videos about that up there, it was crazy. So a lot of people don't want to use those online services and they're looking to have more of that relationship.
That's what I call learning without earning mode. You may have been involved in five or ten different programs and different things and you're still not having success.
What if you really want to achieve greatness, stop asking for permission. It's okay to jump in and have success next week. That is actually possible in our industry. People want real. They want the expert.
Video
Sell Top Dollar Lightning fast, one of the strategies that we teach is video marketing, both short form and long form.
It is the best way to quickly establish yourself as an authority, introduce your brand, and build an authentic connection to your audience. You can do this while making amazing offers.
We use a technique for how to make the most impactful videos for your ideal clients. If you have effective marketing, if you're getting visible and you are making offers through the ways that you are getting visible, that is how that equals sales really quickly in your business.
Another reason that we do our video challenge, it establishes your authority. It fast tracks the know like trust period in the sales process. People need to know like and trust you before they're going to buy from you. So it fast tracks that process. It also gives you extreme visibility. It helps you make offers, gives you a platform to make offers.
It helps you attract potential clients and helps you overcome visibility blocks it also helps you make sales and reduces your marketing spend. Video marketing is free. It costs you no money to get a good strategy in place and get started with that. The art of sales is connecting people with what they want.
So people and sales are highly vibrational, which is why authenticity and owning how you connect to others is so key in the sales process. Doesn't have to feel yucky. You literally can be you and connect in a way that feels good to you and it can equal sales every day of the week multiple times, right? So wealth, your wealth, consciousness matters.
If you are great at transformation, you will be amazing at sales. What clients and people are you attracting? If you are a new agent or you're watching this because you are struggling and you're not at seven, you're not at that seven figure sales place yet, think about what clients and people you are attracting. I attract you to me, attracting the right clients.
What do you put up with is another one. If you're dealing with those tire kicker clients or the clients that are wasting your time, and also the amount of money that you allow into your life is a direct correlation of your beliefs about yourself in your self image. Think about that for a second. There might have to be a little shift that happens there so you can open up the doors to the abundance.
Your success is - how many people you serve and what types of travel that you sell them
The amount of abundance that you create is equal to how many people you serve and what types of travel that you sell them. You've got to upgrade your mindset. And the average agent will always equal average results. But if you think like a top producer, that's when you get into the realm of life changing incomes.
You've got to start thinking like a top producer. And that's what we are going to challenge you to do.
Visibility and authenticity are critical. We've also talked about the fact that you are responsible for your mindset. Make sure your mindset is in a great place so you can have the most, most success possible.
You want to generate leads on demand. You can be the best travel agent in the world, but if you don't know how to get leads coming through your door every day, it doesn't matter. So this is really important. There are some critical things to know about marketing.
Marketing, too, determines the type of clients that you get. Nobody wants a whole bunch of the wrong types of clients. That's just frustrating. Not very much fun, right? Number two of marketing determines the number of clients that you get in. Number three, it's your job to get clients. No one is going to come find you.
I'm glad you got the certification and know CRM. But you're not actually doing any marketing that brings real people into your business. No one's coming to find you just because you put a page up somewhere. You have to go and get those clients.
How you generate leads on demand.
The first thing that you want to do is make sure your brand has a clear message that attracts your ideal, your high end clients, people that are ready to buy what you have to sell today. And also pushes away the clients you do not want. Do this by implementing a perfect professional imagery, clean branding, and a strategy around what you're going to sell. If you sell Europe, you might have one strategy.
If you sell cruises, you might have a different. If you sell Disney, it might be different, but there's no silver bullet. Just make sure that it's professional, clean branding and that you have a clear strategy in your marketing. You also want to have a process to thoroughly screen your leads to avoid unqualified prospects. You do not want to tire kickers, they just waste your time.
You also want to determine a client's budget, their travel timeframe, set good expectations and implement fees to eliminate tire kickers. All of those things are critical in that qualifying leads process.
You need a multifaceted marketing plan. We talked about video strategy earlier. It's a free ways to market. It's a great tool, but not the only thing that you want to do. What other types of marketing are you doing in case an algorithm changes or in case anything changes out there in the industry?
You want to bring in leads that are sourced from different places. That's really key for redundancy and for you to build a profitability levels into your business where you're always expanding and you're not too dependent on one versus another.
The second one is you want to monetize your travel business. It seems so simple, but a lot of people don't know how to do it.
Let's talk about your marketing plan. Your marketing does not have to be expensive, but it does need to be consistent. It needs to be strategic and it needs to be measured.
Those are the most important things as you're growing your travel brand. If you do those things, you actually can get away with a pretty inexpensive, if not free marketing. Doing this right can make or break your business. Because remember, if you're not marketing, you're moving backwards. You always have to be marketing your business.
You have to be getting those clients and attracting them in. It doesn't have to be complicated.
Anything that is something that you find yourself doing again and again and again. How do I automate that process? I only want you to spend a few hours a month on marketing related activities. I don't want you to wake up every day and go, What should I market today? That's not a good strategic approach. Do you have a good strategy in place?
With your marketing - plan it, create it, and then schedule it.
All of them can work. If I get sick or have to step out of my business or I'm on vacation and I'm doing all the things that I do out in the world. Automation is what will allow you to have that laptop lifestyle and also to have work.
For Remote Travel Agents, What Should a Good Marketing Plan Include?
Let me give you some of the exact things and how I want you to build it. I want you to have a combination of social media and SEO, which stands for search engine optimization. That basically means how you show up on the Internet, how you resonate in that space. I want you to have some basic sales funnels in place.
I want you to do some database mining. If you're a new agent, you already have a little database of clients. How are you leveraging that? You don't have it yet. Just work on building the database and later on think about leveraging that and guerilla marketing. That's a term you don't always hear if you're new to marketing, but that's kind of like, what are you doing on that grassroots level to market your business?
Email marketing is so important. Make sure whatever marketing plan you're putting together, it includes all of those, all or most of those elements.
You don't have to have that experience. Okay, here's what you're going to do. You're going to determine your budget and then you're going to schedule your marketing. You're going to look at how it performs for you every single month.
What agents have the most earning potential?
So get certified to super size. This is something I say all the time. The agents who makes the most money in this industry, there are some things that I see where some get better results than other.
Those that are certified have tangible skills. They know how to build and execute a marketing plan. They know how to compete in today's marketing place, which is changing every single day, every single week. It's a booming landscape, right? But they know how to stay relevant in today's marketplace. They know how to maximize their growth trajectory.
And monetization strategies for maximum profit. Agents who are certified, they have a little bit better grasp on these things and they're not taking two years to develop skills because they're just learning them upfront towards the beginning of their career. And that serves them well with getting to the success faster.
Get certified to super size
You should consider group travel. You set a group up once and then you rinse and repeat. You sell the same thing. Those are things a lot of agents don't know about, but that's something that you can set up in your business as well. Corporate partnerships are becoming a big deal, especially with corporations that really want to either go on conferences or reward new people with travel perks.
There's a lot of corporate partnerships going on, which is an exciting one. Travel clubs. You can start across a travel club, you can grow a team if you have that heart to lead.
Riches are in the niches. You find your tribe and you're doing something that no one else is doing. That can be a really great thing. Cross-selling and upselling and also negotiating higher commissions. These are all strategies you should have in your business or even if you don't do it right away.
As an independent travel agent, you build your travel business, and you should be layering these in so you can make more and more profit without it taking you more time or costing you any additional dollars or make you additional dollars instead.
Don't call it a dream. Call it a plan. You've all heard that quote that says it's just a dream unless you set a goal and make it happen.
Make a big decision to do something different and to do it in a bigger way. We are going to challenge you to think in the same way.
Get a mentor
Okay. So the right certification, here's the ones that I want you to look for out in the industry. I want you to look for the ones that give you the skills, knowledge and training that you need to be a great travel agent, one that will give you credibility with consumers, one that will give you confidence. That's a big one, especially if you struggle with mindset and a sense of community.
This can be especially as you if you follow my favorite model of working under another agency, but then graduating on your own, you're still going to be by yourself, on your own. So having somewhere where you can have a sense of community can be a powerful thing. And then I want you to get the knowledge you need to escalate and maximize your growth.
Here's how to invest in a certification with a mentor.
First, everyone should have a mentor. I've had many mentors in my long career. Mentoring really accomplishes two things. It gives you accountability. It gives you new ideas.
That is a powerful thing. Imagine what you could do with a longer term mentorship.
They are all showing up and doing things in a big way.
So we're going to go through how to vet a certification plus a mentorship combination.
Don't take advice from someone you wouldn't switch places with. There's a lot of people popping up in the industry saying, I'll teach you this part or I'll teach you this part, or even companies that will have a training program that will maybe cover one thing you need but not another thing.
So this is a tough one. So I want you to make sure I want your learning part and your certification part to be completely independent of whoever you're working for, because is that certification only good under them or is it good everywhere? You get to take the certification you receive anywhere because it's yours.
A good mentor will really give you great ideas and make sure that you know how to act on them. A great mentor will put together a powerful group of people all working towards similar goals that exponentially multiplies everyone's success. This is why we have a mastermind format and how we train, because not only do we have an amazing group of people, trainers, experts, all passionate about travel and focused on seven figure sales, but you get to be part of that community and they're getting out there living this fun, amazing travel lifestyle, which is so fantastic.
But if you want to take an easier path, which is get the help and the training that you need to implement everything that we talked about today and really get the roadmap so you can get to that success faster, I want to encourage you to reach out to us.
You must have a deep passion for running a travel business and be committed more to your vision than you are to your excuses. You must know that deep down you are meant for a more fulfilling life and business and that you are ready to do something about it right that keeps tapping you on the shoulder and you know, this is the thing that you've always wanted to do.
We want to put you through the same program our million dollar sales producers went through. The program is designed to get you to seven plus figures in sales and set you up for your portable profitable business that you can run from home or anywhere while you travel. And you should be making sales before you graduate.
Goal setting
Think about your short-term, mid-term, and long term goals. Then write down your actionable goals and assign target dates to accomplish
them. You can always update as you go, but map out your big plan for the new
year. Then hang these goals in a visible place in your office and revisit them often
to stay on track.
Marketing Plan
Plan, Create, Schedule
It can help to split your marketing plan into quarters, Jan to March, Apr to June, etc.
Once you've determined the niche you would like to focus on in this quarter, think about the following.
What should I be promoting and selling? Remember you’re ideally promoting the destinations that you
want to sell anywhere from six to twelve months before its peak season. If you are unsure about seasonality,
we recommend a simple Google search, or by visiting tourism board websites to determine.
What season will it be? Are there any major holidays this quarter? Remember, we’re still mostly working six
to twelve months in advance. Do NOT miss this opportunity to tie holidays and travel together. Think romantic
spots for a Valentine’s getaway, or spook-tacular places to visit in October, etc. List the season(s) that
overlap with this marketing period.
Are there any promotions I want to test this quarter like a contest or custom offering? These could be found in SigNet or other sources.

Getting in touch with Lia was a whole new experience, she answered all my initial questions in that first phone call, had so many recommendations, and it was obvious she knew exactly what she was doing. By the time we hung up the first phone call, I had decided on a destination and venue (per Lia's suggestion). She was a God send!
