Carara Biological Reserve is a tropical dry forest and a nature enthusiasts dream. The reserve is a region of majestic mountain ranges, marshes, verdant forests, rivers and ravines, and archeological sites. The reserve houses a very diverse range of wildlife including scarlet macaws, perhaps the most beautiful bird in the Country. The reserve also provides shelter for howler and white faced capuchin monkeys, white tailed deer, red brocket deer, and collard peccaries. This reserve is a must for anyone interested in tropical biology. Its ease of access make it a worthwhile day trip from San José.
