Some of the top activities Costa Rica has to offer...
You want to visit Costa Rica! Awesome, we can help get you there. But one of the questions we’ll ask in helping you do so is what you’d like to see and do there. Relax? Explore nature? Seek adventure? All the above and more? Probably. There is just so much available, we’ll need to have a serious discussion on what your priorities are. To help we’ve put together a list of eight of the best activities to do during your visit. After reading let us know what’s on the top of yours!
8 Great Activities Costa Rica Has To Offer
1. Hiking – An activity that likely is top of mind when you think of Costa Rica and there certainly is no shortage of places to do so. Volcanoes, beaches, cloud forests – the choice is yours. Once that’s settled, think about the level of difficulty you’re comfortable with. These two things will help in the best recommendation. Additionally, it is suggested you consider guided hikes. Your expert leader will be able to provide general assistance and a trained eye to spot wildlife.
2. Surfing – Surfers from around the world frequent Costa Rica year-round because of its warm waters and waves. Choose your coast – Pacific or Caribbean, select your level of experience – beginner, intermediate, or advanced. We can even make some recommendations. If you’re in need of a lesson, they’re typically easy to find, even just by stepping foot on some beaches!
3. Snorkeling and Scuba – Wildlife sightings aren’t limited to land. There are 7,000+ marine species that can be found in Costa Rica’s surrounding waters. So, it is no surprise that it is on the top of the list for water activities. If you’re a snorkeler, think about if you’d like to do so by boat or shore. If a diver, we can help recommend dive sites. Just let us know your level of experience.
4. Whitewater Rafting – Costa Rica provides a stunning background for this adventure. There are a few areas that would be recommended if this is something you’d like to do. Beginner or advanced, let us know what intensity of rapids you’re comfortable with, and we can point you in the right direction. If the kiddos are up for the challenge, there are some options that are suitable for them too. It’s a great family activity!
5. Visit Waterfalls – Some of the most picturesque sights in Costa Rica can be found at its numerous waterfalls. After all, there’s something so magical about water cascading over a cliff to the pools below. There are plenty of options to choose from, just keep in mind a few things. Some falls will require a hike to access, entrance fees will vary, and some allow swimming while others do not. Also consider a guided tour if you won’t have access to a rental car during your stay.
6. Zip Lining – If you’ve Googled “excursions in Costa Rica” you’ve likely seen a picture of someone effortlessly flying over green canopy, rivers, and cliffs. It’s a very popular activity that can be found all over the country. You should expect a safety demo and a short hike. Then you’ll glide line by line, each getting a little longer than the one before. If you’re an adrenaline seeker this is a must do! If not, we wouldn’t recommend it. Do not invest money in something if you’re not 100% comfortable with.
7. Bird Watching – It isn’t unusual for people to travel to Costa Rica for this very reason. Some enthusiasts even build a whole itinerary around this activity. There is 900+ species and most often seen will likely be toucans, macaws, and hummingbirds. Because the country is so eco-diverse, make a couple of watching stops. Don’t forget your binoculars and camera!
8. Yoga – Yes, you read that right! Costa Rica is indeed a haven for yoga lovers. You could see or take a class quite literally anywhere – a resort, beach, volcano, or rainforest. If you’re a beginner, give it a try at least once. If you’re a wellness enthusiast and it’s your reason for travel, it belongs on your list. Think wellness retreat, group trip for your studio, location for instructor training or continuing education.
There you have it, some of the best that Costa Rica has to offer! Of course, there’s a ton more that isn’t listed, so if you have any questions let us know. If you’re ready to explore all that Costa Rica has to offer, please feel free to reach out!

Liz handled our annual conference like a pro. We had over 200 attendees on a cruise ship which is nothing we had done before, so we needed an expert. Having held our annual events for over two decades, we're quite particular in how we like them to go. Liz took every bit of that into consideration and made certain our event was the best it could possibly be. I can also assure anyone considering working with Liz, she works her tail off to make your experience wonderful. I highly recommend her! -Dane Henning

When planning your professional organization’s retreat, incentive group, or business conference, it’s essential to think beyond traditional meeting spaces and find an environment that fosters renewal, growth, and team-building. These events don’t just offer a break from the workplace, they’re an investment in your employees and your organization’s future.
I recently had the privilege of organizing a memorable event - CNA Fest 2024, a dynamic meeting held on Royal Caribbean's Mariner of the Seas. This event beautifully blended professional development with relaxation, networking, and unforgettable experiences. It’s a prime example of how meetings and incentives groups and company in-destination events can have a lasting impact on both employees and the business.
Maximize Productivity and Engagement with Meetings, Incentives Events and Retreats
At CNA Fest 2024, we created a customized conference for a professional organization that balanced business-focused learning with ample opportunities for relaxation and team bonding. By combining conference sessions with downtime, we ensured that attendees were not only engaged but also energized to apply what they learned once they returned to their respective workplaces.
During the event, engaging workshops and conference sessions provided valuable insights for employees, while interactive activities encouraged networking of the professionals who travelled from all over the world for the event. This mixture of education and relaxation led to a highly productive and enjoyable retreat for everyone involved.
Networking and Team Building in a Relaxing Environment
One of the key benefits of meetings and incentive travel is the opportunity for networking and team building outside of the workplace. At CNA Fest 2024, attendees connected with colleagues in meaningful ways, sharing ideas and creating bonds that can last long after the event ends.
An important highlight was the awards event, where we recognized outstanding members for their hard work and dedication. This was followed by a celebratory after-party that not only rewarded achievements but also created lasting memories, motivating the team for future challenges.
The Power of Incentive Groups: Growth, Renewal, and Fun
Company meetings and incentive groups are designed to give employees more than just another day of meetings. The goal is to create an experience that inspires growth, facilitates renewal, and allows for relaxation and fun. In addition to the benefits of the cruise ship, participants at CNA Fest 2024 enjoyed a fabulous day in Cozumel, where attendees experienced excursions and leisure activities, including a lively live band and party in the port. This was the perfect way to re-energize the guests and build lasting connections.
These incentive group activities play a crucial role in employee engagement and satisfaction. By offering employees something truly special, organizations can boost morale, encourage loyalty, and foster a positive culture.
Why Professional Organization Meetings & Incentive Groups Are Crucial for Success
Meetings and incentive trips for professional organizations provide significant benefits for both employees and companies. Here’s how:
Employee Motivation: Offering luxury retreats as an incentive increases employee satisfaction, motivates teams, and shows appreciation for their hard work.
Enhanced Team Collaboration: Retreats create opportunities for employees to bond in ways they can’t in a traditional office setting. This strengthens team collaboration and leads to better communication back at the office.
Networking Opportunities: Incentive trips provide employees with the chance to connect with colleagues and industry leaders in a more relaxed and informal setting. This leads to new ideas, business growth, and stronger professional relationships.
Rejuvenation and Focused Growth: By incorporating wellness activities, team-building, and fun experiences, professional organization retreats offer employees a chance to recharge, leading to improved focus and performance when they return to work.
Start Planning Your Next Professional Organization Event Today
The success of events like CNA Fest 2024 shows just how beneficial professional organization incentive trips and business retreats can be for both employees and the organization. These experiences offer a unique opportunity for growth, renewal, and collaboration that can't be replicated in the office.

As a travel agent, I’m always on the lookout for destinations that offer not just a luxurious escape but also a unique and unforgettable experience for families. This past year, I had the pleasure of visiting the new Dreams Estrella Del Mar in Mazatlán, Mexico, right after its grand opening. Not only was it an exceptional resort for my family, but it also provided the perfect setting for my son’s 9th birthday celebration, which became a trip to remember for all the right reasons.
A Warm Welcome and a Birthday to Remember
From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel at home. But what stood out the most was their attention to detail in celebrating my son’s birthday. Upon check-in, the concierge surprised him with a special birthday greeting and ensured he felt like the star of the trip.
Throughout our stay, the staff continued to make his birthday magical. They organized a poolside celebration complete with a birthday cake, his favorite non-alcoholic tropical drink, and a heartwarming rendition of 'Feliz Cumpleaños' by the team. They even coordinated meals that catered to his food tolerance issues, ensuring he could enjoy his favorite dishes without any worry. Seeing my son’s excitement and joy was priceless, and as a mom, I couldn’t have asked for better service or more thoughtful hospitality.
Family-Friendly Features That Shine
Dreams Estrella Del Mar is truly a perfect resort choice for families. The resort’s Explorer’s Club (kid’s club) offers supervised activities for kids, allowing parents to relax knowing their children are in good hands. My son loves the hands-on art projects, games, and treasure hunts, while my husband and I enjoy having some quiet time by the infinity pool.
The resort also features:
A water park complete with slides, an incredible lazy river that goes through a 'cave' and splash zones, perfect for kids of all ages.
Multiple pools, including a family pool and quiet adults-only options for those seeking tranquility.
Spacious family suites, offering plenty of room for larger families, complete with luxurious touches that made it feel like a home away from home. We stayed in a double queen room with a swim out, and it was perfect.
Exploring the Cultural Charm of Mazatlán
One of the things that sets Dreams Estrella Del Mar apart is its location. Mazatlán is a relatively new destination for many travelers, which adds to its charm. Known as the “Pearl of the Pacific,” the city combines beautiful beaches with rich history and culture.
At the resort, guests can enjoy cultural experiences like traditional Mexican cooking classes, live music performances, and artisan markets featuring local crafts. Offsite, Mazatlán offers so much to explore, including:
The Malecón, one of the longest oceanfront promenades in the world, perfect for a leisurely stroll, bike ride, or soaking in gorgeous sunsets.
The thrilling cliff divers, a must-see spectacle where brave performers leap from towering rocks into the Pacific, showcasing incredible skill and bravery.
The Golden Zone, where vibrant shopping, dining, and nightlife bring the energy of Mazatlán to life.
For our family, the highlight of our cultural exploration was walking along the lively Malecón and stopping to watch the cliff divers in action. Seeing their daring feats against the backdrop of the ocean was mesmerizing and a unique experience we’ll never forget.
Why Dreams Estrella Del Mar Is a Must-Visit
Whether you’re planning a family getaway, a romantic retreat, or a special celebration, Dreams Estrella Del Mar delivers on every level. The combination of world-class service, thoughtful amenities, and authentic cultural experiences sets it apart as a top-tier resort in a destination that’s just starting to gain the recognition it deserves.
For families, the resort’s attention to detail, particularly when it comes to celebrating special moments, makes it a standout choice. My son still talks about his birthday at Dreams Estrella Del Mar, and I know it’s a memory he’ll treasure for years to come.
As a travel agent, I’m thrilled to recommend Dreams Estrella Del Mar to clients looking for a fresh, family-friendly destination that blends luxury with a taste of Mexico’s vibrant culture. And as a mom, I can’t wait to return for another unforgettable stay.
