Some of the top activities Costa Rica has to offer...
You want to visit Costa Rica! Awesome, we can help get you there. But one of the questions we’ll ask in helping you do so is what you’d like to see and do there. Relax? Explore nature? Seek adventure? All the above and more? Probably. There is just so much available, we’ll need to have a serious discussion on what your priorities are. To help we’ve put together a list of eight of the best activities to do during your visit. After reading let us know what’s on the top of yours!
8 Great Activities Costa Rica Has To Offer
1. Hiking – An activity that likely is top of mind when you think of Costa Rica and there certainly is no shortage of places to do so. Volcanoes, beaches, cloud forests – the choice is yours. Once that’s settled, think about the level of difficulty you’re comfortable with. These two things will help in the best recommendation. Additionally, it is suggested you consider guided hikes. Your expert leader will be able to provide general assistance and a trained eye to spot wildlife.
2. Surfing – Surfers from around the world frequent Costa Rica year-round because of its warm waters and waves. Choose your coast – Pacific or Caribbean, select your level of experience – beginner, intermediate, or advanced. We can even make some recommendations. If you’re in need of a lesson, they’re typically easy to find, even just by stepping foot on some beaches!
3. Snorkeling and Scuba – Wildlife sightings aren’t limited to land. There are 7,000+ marine species that can be found in Costa Rica’s surrounding waters. So, it is no surprise that it is on the top of the list for water activities. If you’re a snorkeler, think about if you’d like to do so by boat or shore. If a diver, we can help recommend dive sites. Just let us know your level of experience.
4. Whitewater Rafting – Costa Rica provides a stunning background for this adventure. There are a few areas that would be recommended if this is something you’d like to do. Beginner or advanced, let us know what intensity of rapids you’re comfortable with, and we can point you in the right direction. If the kiddos are up for the challenge, there are some options that are suitable for them too. It’s a great family activity!
5. Visit Waterfalls – Some of the most picturesque sights in Costa Rica can be found at its numerous waterfalls. After all, there’s something so magical about water cascading over a cliff to the pools below. There are plenty of options to choose from, just keep in mind a few things. Some falls will require a hike to access, entrance fees will vary, and some allow swimming while others do not. Also consider a guided tour if you won’t have access to a rental car during your stay.
6. Zip Lining – If you’ve Googled “excursions in Costa Rica” you’ve likely seen a picture of someone effortlessly flying over green canopy, rivers, and cliffs. It’s a very popular activity that can be found all over the country. You should expect a safety demo and a short hike. Then you’ll glide line by line, each getting a little longer than the one before. If you’re an adrenaline seeker this is a must do! If not, we wouldn’t recommend it. Do not invest money in something if you’re not 100% comfortable with.
7. Bird Watching – It isn’t unusual for people to travel to Costa Rica for this very reason. Some enthusiasts even build a whole itinerary around this activity. There is 900+ species and most often seen will likely be toucans, macaws, and hummingbirds. Because the country is so eco-diverse, make a couple of watching stops. Don’t forget your binoculars and camera!
8. Yoga – Yes, you read that right! Costa Rica is indeed a haven for yoga lovers. You could see or take a class quite literally anywhere – a resort, beach, volcano, or rainforest. If you’re a beginner, give it a try at least once. If you’re a wellness enthusiast and it’s your reason for travel, it belongs on your list. Think wellness retreat, group trip for your studio, location for instructor training or continuing education.
There you have it, some of the best that Costa Rica has to offer! Of course, there’s a ton more that isn’t listed, so if you have any questions let us know. If you’re ready to explore all that Costa Rica has to offer, please feel free to reach out!

What's Included in Our Norwegian Epic Mediterranean Group Cruise? A Complete Cost Breakdown
If you've ever looked at a cruise price and thought, 'That seems too good to be true' — or the opposite, 'That seems way too expensive' — you're not alone.
Cruise pricing can feel like a puzzle. Many travelers compare cruise fares without realizing that airfare, gratuities, drinks, specialty dining, and travel protection are often additional expenses that can add thousands to the final cost.
That's why I prefer showing the complete picture from the beginning.
Our Hosted Mediterranean Group Cruise aboard the Norwegian Epic in October 2027 is designed to provide exceptional value while eliminating the stress of planning every detail yourself. When you look at everything included, it's easy to see why this sailing has become one of our most popular group departures.
What's Included in Your Group Cruise Package?
When you reserve your cabin, you're getting far more than just a cruise.
🍣 Specialty Dining Package
Norwegian Epic is home to some of the best specialty restaurants at sea, including Cagney's Steakhouse, Le Bistro French Restaurant, and Teppanyaki.
With your included dining package, you'll enjoy premium dining experiences without paying the typical à la carte prices that can range from $30–$60 per person, per meal.
🍹 Premium Beverage Package
Vacation should be about enjoying yourself, not worrying about every drink you order.
Your package includes cocktails, wine, beer, spirits, soft drinks, and other eligible beverages throughout the cruise.
Purchased separately, a premium beverage package can easily exceed $100 per person, per day.
✈️ Roundtrip Airfare from DFW
Flights to Europe are often one of the largest expenses travelers face.
Roundtrip transatlantic airfare from Dallas can easily cost $800–$1,500 per person depending on season and availability.
With this group package, it's already included.
No searching. No comparing dozens of flight options. No stress.
💰 Prepaid Gratuities
Cruise gratuities are often overlooked during the booking process.
On a 7-night cruise, gratuities can add approximately $140 per person to your total vacation cost.
We've already taken care of that for you.
🛡️ Travel Protection Through Arch RoamRight
Travel protection is one of those things people hope they'll never need—but are grateful to have when they do.
Your package includes travel protection through Arch RoamRight, helping protect your investment against covered delays, interruptions, medical emergencies, and other unexpected situations.
Who Is This Trip Perfect For?
This hosted Mediterranean group cruise is ideal for:
✔️ Couples celebrating an anniversary or special occasion
✔️ Travelers who want to experience Europe without planning every detail
✔️ First-time cruisers looking for guidance and support
✔️ Friends and family traveling together
✔️ Travelers who appreciate having airfare, dining, drinks, and logistics handled in advance
✔️ Anyone who wants a stress-free European vacation with a built-in travel community
Let's Talk Real Numbers
One of the biggest mistakes I see travelers make is comparing only the advertised cruise fare.
A lower-priced cruise can quickly become far more expensive once the extras are added back in.
Here's what many travelers would pay separately for these same inclusions:
Included Feature
Estimated Value Per Couple
Specialty Dining Package
~$180
Premium Beverage Package
~$1,400
Roundtrip Airfare from DFW
~$2,000
Prepaid Gratuities
~$280
Travel Protection
~$300–$500
Total Added Value
$4,160–$4,360+
That's more than $4,000 in included value before we even begin talking about the cruise itself, the incredible Mediterranean itinerary, or the Norwegian Epic experience.
The Group Advantage
There is also a benefit you simply can't put a dollar amount on.
Because our group has more than 50 cabins reserved together, we have negotiating power and advantages that individual travelers typically don't receive.
That means:
✔️ Better group perks
✔️ Preferred cabin options
✔️ Coordinated planning
✔️ Dedicated support before, during, and after your trip
✔️ An experienced travel advisor handling the details for you
Instead of piecing together flights, hotels, cruise reservations, and logistics on your own, everything is coordinated for you.
Your job is simply to enjoy Barcelona, Rome, and the beautiful Greek Isles.
Explore Some of Europe's Most Iconic Destinations
While the onboard inclusions provide incredible value, the real magic of this journey is the destinations you'll experience along the way.
Our October 2027 Hosted Mediterranean Group Cruise aboard the Norwegian Epic takes you through Spain, France, Monaco, and Italy, with opportunities to explore some of Europe's most famous cities, coastlines, and cultural treasures.
🇪🇸 Barcelona, Spain
Your adventure begins in the vibrant city of Barcelona. Explore the architectural masterpieces of Antoni Gaudí, stroll down Las Ramblas, visit the famous Sagrada Família, or enjoy authentic Spanish tapas before setting sail.
🇫🇷 Provence (Marseille), France
Experience the beauty and charm of southern France. From historic Marseille to the picturesque villages and vineyards of Provence, this region is known for its stunning landscapes, incredible cuisine, and rich cultural heritage.
🇫🇷 Nice & 🇲🇨 Monaco
Spend the day along the glamorous French Riviera. Wander through the colorful streets of Nice, relax along the Mediterranean coastline, or venture into Monaco to see the famous Monte Carlo Casino, luxury yachts, and breathtaking ocean views.
🇮🇹 Florence & Pisa, Italy
History and art lovers will feel right at home here. Visit Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance, where masterpieces by Michelangelo and Botticelli await. Or head to Pisa to snap the classic photo at the world-famous Leaning Tower.
🇮🇹 Messina, Sicily
Located on the island of Sicily, Messina offers a unique blend of Italian culture, ancient history, and spectacular coastal scenery. It's also an excellent gateway for exploring the charming towns and landscapes that make Sicily so special.
🇮🇹 Salerno & The Amalfi Coast
One of the highlights of the itinerary, Salerno provides access to the breathtaking Amalfi Coast. Explore picturesque seaside villages, enjoy authentic Italian cuisine, or visit nearby Positano, Amalfi, or Pompeii for an unforgettable day ashore.
🇮🇹 Rome (Civitavecchia), Italy
Your cruise concludes near one of the world's most iconic cities. Whether it's your first visit or your fifth, Rome never disappoints. Walk through ancient history at the Colosseum, toss a coin into the Trevi Fountain, visit Vatican City, and experience the timeless beauty of Italy's capital.
One Vacation. Four Countries. Countless Memories.
One of the greatest advantages of cruising the Mediterranean is the ability to experience multiple countries and cultures without constantly packing, unpacking, changing hotels, or coordinating transportation.
In just one unforgettable trip, you'll visit Spain, France, Monaco, and Italy while enjoying the convenience of returning to the same ship each evening.
From the French Riviera and the Amalfi Coast to Florence, Rome, and Barcelona, this itinerary is packed with destinations that appear on travelers' bucket lists year after year.
