🏰 I just got back from Disneyland last weekend, and I have to be honest — it never gets old.
There is something about that park that is just different. Walt Disney chose Anaheim as the home of his very first park, and his presence is still felt everywhere you go. His apartment above the fire station on Main Street is still there — a reminder that this place was deeply personal to him, not just a business. That spirit never left.
This trip was extra special. My son is about to begin Fire Academy, and before that chapter started, we snuck away for a quick mama-son trip to celebrate him and soak up a little magic together. We Disney bounded as Mater and Lightning McQueen — and if you know us, you know that was absolutely perfect. The highlight of the trip was our character breakfast at Storybook Dining at Artist Point. The food was incredible, the atmosphere was storybook-beautiful, and the characters made every moment feel like it was just for us. It's the kind of memory I'll carry for a long time.
What strikes me every single time at these parks is how intentional everything is. The weather in Southern California is almost unfairly beautiful. The park is immaculate. And the Cast Members — every single one of them — are trained to make your experience nothing short of magical. I have never once encountered a Cast Member who wasn't warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely committed to solving any problem that came up. That's not an accident. That's a culture Walt built.
And then there's the feeling of walking past a ride or a corner of the park and being instantly transported back — to a movie, a memory, a moment from your own life. Disney has been woven into so many of our stories, and the parks know exactly how to bring all of that back.
Whether it's Disneyland or Walt Disney World, these parks are in a category of their own. And helping someone plan their first — or fifteenth — Disney trip is honestly one of my favorite things to do.
