You're excited to start planning your cruise...until you realize just how many choices there are.
Ocean or river? Europe or the Caribbean? Large ship or small? Family-friendly or adults-focused? Luxury or casual?
It's easy to get caught up comparing cruise companies, ships, and itineraries, wondering which one is "the best."
But that's actually the wrong question.
The better question is: Which cruise is the best fit for me?
That's exactly where I start with my clients. Before we compare ships or itineraries, we talk about the kind of vacation they're hoping to have. Once those answers become clear, finding the right cruise becomes much easier.
Here are the questions I believe every traveler should ask before choosing a cruise.
One of the first questions I ask isn't where you want to go—it's who's going with you.
A honeymoon, a retirement celebration, a multi-generational family vacation, and a friends' getaway may all take place on a cruise, but they probably won't be the same cruise. The people you're traveling with influence everything from the type of cabin that makes sense to the atmosphere you'll enjoy and the pace of your vacation.
When everyone is excited about the trip, the vacation becomes so much more memorable. That's why understanding the group is one of the most important steps before we ever start comparing ships or itineraries.
How I can help: I'll help you find a cruise that fits the people you're traveling with—not just the destination you're hoping to visit.

Now that we've talked about who's traveling, let's picture the vacation itself.
Picture yourself onboard. What does your perfect cruise day actually look like?
Maybe you're spending the afternoon by the pool with a tropical drink in hand before getting ready for a Broadway-style show. Perhaps you're trying your luck in the casino, enjoying live music after dinner, or watching your kids race from the splash pad to the waterslides while you finally have a chance to relax.
Or maybe your ideal day looks completely different. You're exploring a unique port that morning, returning to the ship for lunch, attending a fascinating presentation, enjoying a wine tasting, or chatting with the captain during a special event. Dinner is unhurried, you've gotten to know fellow travelers throughout the week, and you're already looking forward to tomorrow's destination.
Neither version is better—they're simply different ways to enjoy a cruise. The important thing is knowing which experiences make you excited to wake up each morning. Once you can picture your perfect cruise day, you've already done the hardest part. From there, it's simply a matter of finding the cruise that brings that picture to life.
How I can help: Rather than starting with cruise companies, I start by learning what excites you. Once I understand what your perfect cruise day looks like, I can recommend the ships and cruise experiences that are the best match for your travel style.
Two cruises can have very different price tags, but that doesn't necessarily mean one offers better value than the other.
For one traveler, "worth it" might mean upgrading to a balcony cabin so they can enjoy their morning coffee with an ocean view every day. For someone else, it's choosing a river cruise where many excursions are included, allowing them to experience each destination without worrying about planning every detail. Another traveler may decide they'd rather book a simpler cabin and use the savings for a longer itinerary or an unforgettable shore excursion.
The goal isn't simply comparing prices—it's making the most of your vacation budget by investing in the experiences that matter most to you.
That's why I encourage my clients to think beyond the initial price. Sometimes spending a little more means getting exactly the vacation you were hoping for. Other times, it means recognizing that you don't need to pay for features or amenities you'll never use.
How I can help: My job isn't to point you toward the highest-priced or the lowest-priced cruise. It's to help you make the most of your vacation budget by choosing the experiences that matter most to you, so you come home feeling every dollar was well spent.

For some travelers, that's a destination they've dreamed about for years. They already know they want to see Alaska's glaciers, explore the Greek Isles, or visit Europe's Christmas markets. In those cases, the destination naturally narrows the options and helps determine the type of cruise that's the best fit.
For others, it's the opposite. They don't have a specific destination in mind—they simply know how they want their vacation to feel. Maybe they're looking for warm weather and relaxation, meaningful cultural experiences, quality time with family, or a chance to completely unplug. Once we understand that feeling, we can begin exploring destinations that deliver exactly the kind of vacation they're hoping to have.
Sometimes the destination shapes the vacation. Other times, the vacation experience leads us to the perfect destination. Neither approach is better—it simply depends on where your travel dreams begin.
How I can help: Whether you already have a dream destination or you're still deciding where you want to go, I'll help connect the dots between your travel goals and the cruise that brings them to life.
Notice that we never asked, "What's the best cruise company?"
That's because there isn't one.
The best cruise isn't the newest ship, the biggest ship, or the one with the flashiest advertisements. It's the one that fits the people you're traveling with, the experiences you're looking forward to, the way you want to invest your vacation budget, and the destinations you've been dreaming about.
How I can help: Every vacation recommendation starts with understanding you. Before we compare cruise companies, itineraries, or cabins, I want to understand what your ideal vacation looks like. Once we know that, finding the right cruise becomes much easier.
