The campaign has been successful thus far. In its first three weeks, the campaign has raised $30,000 online through crowd funding at crowdrise.com/cedellamarley where the goal is to raise 150,000 for the WHOA program by mid-March. A minimum $5 donation enables the donor to receive a special download code for the campaign song, which is refreshed and a modern version of Bob Marley’s famed “Could You Be Loved” re-recorded by daughter, Cedella, and is at the forefront of the new fundraising campaign.
Donors will be eligible for unique prizes during the online fundraising campaign, including a Grand Prize to the individual with the largest contribution. The Grand Prize of the Ultimate Marley Experience includes a four-day/ three-night Luxury Included® vacation for two to a Sandals or Beaches resort in Ocho Rios, Jamaica; round-trip airfare for two to Jamaica; a tour of the Bob Marley Museum and Tuff Gong Recording Studios in Kingston, Jamaica; and a special invitation to meet a member of the Marley family (note: restrictions apply).
Cedella Marley, eldest daughter of global legend Bob Marley and CEO of the Marley Group of Companies, serves as the Good Will Ambassador for WHOA. Her commitment to women and youth in the Caribbean strongly supports the efforts of the Sandals Foundation, the non-profit arm of Sandals Resorts International and its President, Adam Stewart to provide Caribbean women and youth opportunities for advancement.
One Hundred Percent of donations will go toward projects that will support WHOA’s multi-year, women’s empowerment programs and provide support, mentorship, education and skills training to help marginalized women across Jamaica and the Caribbean find inspiration and strength to transform their lives and, in doing so, positively impact their families and communities for generations to come.
