Jeremy Mutton, General Manager of Sandals Emerald Bay, loves fresh coconuts, walking his two dogs, and enjoys personally welcoming guests to the Exumas by greeting them at airport. His team members, people who go the extra mile to make guests feel special and keep them intrigued, inspire him to do such things. According to Mutton, there are many exciting experiences to be had amid the Exuma cays. Besides receiving superb butler service and tasting the flavors of the resort’s newest restaurant, no guest, he says, can leave the island without swimming with the pigs (yes, pigs), or standing on the Tropic of Cancer line that runs through the island. JM: Approaching two years now and I still come in everyday in awe of the emerald, clear waters. I often wonder if I will ever tire of that view. Highly unlikely.
JM: Meeting so many interesting people – many of whom become wonderful and dear friends who keep in contact throughout the year.
JM: Too many! But a most recent one still in my memory is of a couple that frequently visited Exuma many years ago but had not returned for about 30 years. To celebrate the beginning of their retirement they recently vacationed at Sandals Emerald Bay and the gentleman asked some of our team members if they knew of a lady in a particular area of the island who used to cook for them at their vacation home. The guest thought the request was a long shot, however our team member knew of the lady in question and as a surprise, the following day my team member secretly brought in the lady to meet the gentleman – it is typical of the Exumians who are so warm and friendly to do something like that. The look on the gentleman’s face was priceless!
