Lindblad Expeditions : Lord of the Glens
Life aboard Lord of the Glens feels like a cross between relaxing in a stately country manor and taking a voyage aboard a private yacht with friends. It is the perfect way to explore the Scottish countryside. She is paneled in polished wood, with teak decks, offering gourmet cuisine, and exceptional personal service. Lord of the Glens accommodates 48 guests in 26 outside cabins. At 150 feet, she is uniquely sized to fit through the network of locks and canals that cut through the heart of the Scottish highlands—the Caledonian Canal, which connects the North Sea to the Atlantic. And, she can also navigate the coastline and venture to the islands of the Inner Hebrides, making her the only vessel that can cut across the country and explore islands in the Atlantic in such grand style.

Ship Highlights:

  • Roomy & comfortable cabins to end your active day
  • Public spaces perfectly suited to your style of travel
  • Open-air terraces set with tables and chairs
  • An array of amenities such as Library, Fitness room etc

Lindblad Expeditions : Lord of the Glens
Time aboard is relaxing and enlightening - the perfect peaceful respite between exploring storied towns and hiking the highlands.

The open top deck is set with tables and chairs, offering an ideal perch to take in the view of the Scottish countryside or see the busy crew at work as you pass through the locks. There are teak decks and warm mahogany finishes throughout. The feeling aboard is as if relaxing in a fine country home.

Public spaces perfectly suited to this style of travel

  • Lounge & Bar: The lounge is the heart of the expedition community, and it is divided into two sections: the forward area is called the Sir Walter Scott lounge, a smaller, intimate space to gather with friends. And the aft section is the David Livingstone lounge, which accommodates the entire expedition community at once for briefings and nightly Recap. The bar is located between the two, with beer, bottled wines, cocktails, specialty drinks, spirits, and wine by the glass available for sale.
  • Terraces: Open-air terraces, set with tables and chairs, offer a unique place to relax on the fore and aft decks.
  • Bridge: The ship operates with an open bridge, and you are invited to visit the watch officer and learn about the calm business of navigation. There may occasionally be times when the bridge is restricted to shipboard personnel only, but any other time you are welcome.
  • Fitness Equipment: Some bicycles will be aboard the ship that may be used to explore on your own or ride along the canal. At Loch Ness, kayaks will be available for use.
  • Library: There is a small library aboard the ship, with a selection of games and books.
  • Reception: Reception is located on the Alexander Graham Bell deck and is staffed throughout the day.

The moment you step aboard the Lord of the Glens you are surrounded by the rich mahogany finishes of the reception area and lobby. The ship is magnificently appointed and brings to mind that one is in a stately country manor rather than a five-star ship.

Until recently, size-limiting locks prevented travelers from seeing the Highlands from the remarkable vantage point of the inland waterway that links Scotland's most famous lochs. Now, with the style of a classic luxury yacht, the 48-guest Lord of the Glens journeys through this spectacular countryside in spectacular style.

Dining
Each meal is an invitation to dine among friends. You’ll find the cuisine is excellent and focuses on local provisions. Meals are served to the entire expedition community in a single seating, with some tables accommodating an odd number for easy mixing. Independent travelers will find a welcome everywhere. Dress is always casual and the general ambience is relaxed and informal. The dining room is wrapped in picture windows, so you’re sure to never miss the view.

Breakfast is served buffet style and options abound, including a full Scottish breakfast comprising eggs, bacon, tomatoes, black pudding, and toast. There’s fresh bread, cereals, fresh fruit, and yogurts, together with coffee and tea. For early morning risers, tea and coffee will be available at the bar. Lunch is most often also served buffet style, while dinner is plated. Whether a meal is buffet-style or served, the gracious waitstaff is ever-present to attend to your every need. In addition, tea, coffee, and hot chocolate are available 24 hours a day. Soft drinks are included, and alcoholic beverages are available at an additional charge.

During lunch and dinner your expedition leader, historian, and any guest speakers aboard will join you for meals, and during breakfast they often sit together to plan the logistics of the exciting day ahead.
