Wesley Brown, Jamaica’s rising professional golfer, is making the islands proud with his first international pro golf tournament win during the NGA TOUR Carolina Summer Series event at Aberdeen Golf Club. A former Sandals Golf & Country Club team member, Brown is sponsored by Sandals Resorts International (SRI) and continues to exude pride for the Caribbean and pay respect to that helped him achieve this milestone.
The feat was no small one, as Brown came back from four strokes down on the final day. He ended the three-day NGA event with a score of 69, for an overall score of 213, beating his opponent by only three strokes. With his 11th start on the NGA tour, Brown said that he has learned the value of knowing when and where to attack hole locations, while learning to position himself on the correct sides of the fairways has allowed him to perform with controlled aggression on the course.
To the people that have cheered him along the way, Brown stated that he “could not be here without their love and support.” Brown went on to send a big thanks to SRI, namely CEO Adam Stewart, Stephen Hector, Global Director of Public Relations, and Crissano Dalley, Public Relations Coordinator, along with fellow mentors from Sandals Golf and Country Club, for their continued support of his professional golf endeavors.
"I used to just feel like I needed to use driver and get as close to the green as possible, but now I know that there is strategy to each and every hole," Brown said in an interview after the tournament. By changing his strategy, he has been able to have a more constructive plan going into each round. "I am extremely satisfied to see all of my hard work paying off, and I expect great things to come in the near future.”
