4. It's the hummingbird capital of the world! There are over 50 species that call Costa Rica home.

Some of the top activities Costa Rica has to offer...
You want to visit Costa Rica! Awesome, we can help get you there. But one of the questions we’ll ask in helping you do so is what you’d like to see and do there. Relax? Explore nature? Seek adventure? All the above and more? Probably. There is just so much available, we’ll need to have a serious discussion on what your priorities are. To help we’ve put together a list of eight of the best activities to do during your visit. After reading let us know what’s on the top of yours!
8 Great Activities Costa Rica Has To Offer
1. Hiking – An activity that likely is top of mind when you think of Costa Rica and there certainly is no shortage of places to do so. Volcanoes, beaches, cloud forests – the choice is yours. Once that’s settled, think about the level of difficulty you’re comfortable with. These two things will help in the best recommendation. Additionally, it is suggested you consider guided hikes. Your expert leader will be able to provide general assistance and a trained eye to spot wildlife.
2. Surfing – Surfers from around the world frequent Costa Rica year-round because of its warm waters and waves. Choose your coast – Pacific or Caribbean, select your level of experience – beginner, intermediate, or advanced. We can even make some recommendations. If you’re in need of a lesson, they’re typically easy to find, even just by stepping foot on some beaches!
3. Snorkeling and Scuba – Wildlife sightings aren’t limited to land. There are 7,000+ marine species that can be found in Costa Rica’s surrounding waters. So, it is no surprise that it is on the top of the list for water activities. If you’re a snorkeler, think about if you’d like to do so by boat or shore. If a diver, we can help recommend dive sites. Just let us know your level of experience.
4. Whitewater Rafting – Costa Rica provides a stunning background for this adventure. There are a few areas that would be recommended if this is something you’d like to do. Beginner or advanced, let us know what intensity of rapids you’re comfortable with, and we can point you in the right direction. If the kiddos are up for the challenge, there are some options that are suitable for them too. It’s a great family activity!
5. Visit Waterfalls – Some of the most picturesque sights in Costa Rica can be found at its numerous waterfalls. After all, there’s something so magical about water cascading over a cliff to the pools below. There are plenty of options to choose from, just keep in mind a few things. Some falls will require a hike to access, entrance fees will vary, and some allow swimming while others do not. Also consider a guided tour if you won’t have access to a rental car during your stay.
6. Zip Lining – If you’ve Googled “excursions in Costa Rica” you’ve likely seen a picture of someone effortlessly flying over green canopy, rivers, and cliffs. It’s a very popular activity that can be found all over the country. You should expect a safety demo and a short hike. Then you’ll glide line by line, each getting a little longer than the one before. If you’re an adrenaline seeker this is a must do! If not, we wouldn’t recommend it. Do not invest money in something if you’re not 100% comfortable with.
7. Bird Watching – It isn’t unusual for people to travel to Costa Rica for this very reason. Some enthusiasts even build a whole itinerary around this activity. There is 900+ species and most often seen will likely be toucans, macaws, and hummingbirds. Because the country is so eco-diverse, make a couple of watching stops. Don’t forget your binoculars and camera!
8. Yoga – Yes, you read that right! Costa Rica is indeed a haven for yoga lovers. You could see or take a class quite literally anywhere – a resort, beach, volcano, or rainforest. If you’re a beginner, give it a try at least once. If you’re a wellness enthusiast and it’s your reason for travel, it belongs on your list. Think wellness retreat, group trip for your studio, location for instructor training or continuing education.
There you have it, some of the best that Costa Rica has to offer! Of course, there’s a ton more that isn’t listed, so if you have any questions let us know. If you’re ready to explore all that Costa Rica has to offer, please feel free to reach out!

Most travelers think they need to hit every landmark to enjoy Europe. Eiffel Tower? Louvre? Tower of London? Forget the checklist. The magic of travel happens when you experience the city on your terms, not the guidebook’s.
Why Slow Travel Works
Slow travel is about immersion: wandering streets, savoring a café in Paris, or enjoying a quiet London park. This approach creates moments that last decades - without stress - the whole reason we're on vacation to begin with.
How a Travel Advisor (That's me) Enhances Your Experience
I specialize in European travel planning: every transfer, hotel booking, and reservation handled before you even leave home. By passing off the logistics to me: Couples reconnect. By walking through the details on our 'departure phone call': First-time travelers gain confidence. My clients arrive relaxed, present, and ready to create memories.
Pro Tip: Leave room to wander. Pick experiences that matter to you and let serendipity guide the rest.
Ireland is on a LOT of traveler's bucket lists. And for good reason. Rolling green hills, charming little villages, dramatic cliffs, cozy pubs, castles everywhere… basically a real-life fairy tale. But if you’ve ever tried to plan a trip there, you know it can be a lot. Narrow roads, scattered must-see spots, figuring out where to stay… yikes.
That’s why letting the experts take care of it makes total sense. Enter your favorite travel advisor and an expert guided tour company like CIE Tours or Globus Family of Brands. They do all the heavy lifting so you can focus on the fun stuff - like sipping Guinness in a centuries-old pub or staring, slack-jawed, at the Cliffs of Moher.
Ireland’s Highlights You Actually Want to See
Yes, you could try to plan it yourself… or you could just go with a guide who knows all the good stuff and it's like having a concierge with you at all times as well. Some of the spots you definitely don’t want to miss:
✨Dublin – think colorful streets, amazing pubs, and yes, the history too
✨Cliffs of Moher – Instagram-level views with zero planning stress
✨Ring of Kerry – the ultimate scenic drive
✨Galway – charming streets, live music, and vibes you’ll never forget
Why Guided Tours Are Actually Genius
Ireland is one of those places that looks amazing in photos… but when you start trying to plan it, things can get a little complicated. The roads are narrow, the best sights are spread all over the country, and figuring out where to stay in between everything can be a lot.
That’s why guided tours can make so much sense.
And honestly, when you pair your favorite travel advisor with CIE Tours or Globus Family of Brands, you get the best setup.
I'll help with all the pre-planning before the trip - picking the right itinerary, answering questions, helping you decide what makes the most sense for your travel style. It’s also nice knowing you have someone in your back pocket if something comes up before you leave.
Then once you arrive in Ireland, your tour company takes care of the day-to-day details while you’re traveling. It's genius.
That means someone else is handling things like transportation, hotels, and getting you to the can’t-miss places like the Cliffs of Moher or the famous drive around the Ring of Kerry.
So instead of worrying about maps, directions, and logistics, you can just enjoy being in Ireland - which is kind of the whole point of the trip.
✨Bonus: they sometimes throw in experiences you wouldn’t find on your own
Basically, it’s like hitting the jackpot of worry-free travel.
Bottom Line
Ireland is gorgeous, historic, fun, and maybe a little overwhelming - but that’s exactly why partnering with a travel advisor like me along with a guided tour company I trust, like CIE Tours or Globus Family of Brands makes it so much better. You get all the magic, none of the planning headaches, and plenty of time to just soak it all in.
So… when you ready to say yes to Ireland without the overwhelm, I can't wait to help.
I know. Planning a vacation a year in advance can feel a little crazy.
Life is busy, calendars change, and committing to something that far out can seem like a lot. But when it comes to river cruising, booking early is actually one of the smartest travel decisions you can make.
River cruises are incredibly popular right now, and unlike giant ocean ships that carry thousands of passengers, river cruise ships are small and fill up quickly. If you’ve ever dreamed about sailing through Europe along the Rhine River or the beautiful Danube River, booking about a year ahead can make a huge difference in availability.
River Cruise Ships Are Smaller (And That’s a Good Thing)
One of the reasons travelers love river cruising is the relaxed, intimate experience. Most ships carry around 150 guests, which means fewer crowds and easier access to the destinations along the way.
But the smaller size also means that river cruise itineraries sell out much faster than traditional ocean cruises.
Popular European river cruise routes along the Rhine River and Danube River can begin filling up more than a year in advance, especially for peak travel seasons like spring and fall.
Booking early gives travelers the most flexibility when it comes to choosing sailing dates, cabin types, and specific itineraries.
The Most Popular River Cruise Itineraries Sell Out First
Certain river cruise routes are consistently among the most popular in Europe.
The Danube River is famous for sailing through historic cities like Vienna and Budapest, while the Rhine River is known for its castles, vineyards, and charming riverside villages.
Seasonal cruises can be even harder to book. Sailings during European Christmas Markets season are especially popular and often sell out more than a year in advance. This seems like it cannot be possible - but it is.
Booking early makes it much easier to secure the exact itinerary and travel dates you want.
Booking Early Means Better Cabin Choices
River cruise ships offer several different cabin categories, but some options are much more popular than others.
Balcony staterooms, suites, and centrally located cabins tend to be reserved first. Travelers who book their river cruise earlier typically have the best selection of cabin types and locations on the ship.
Waiting until closer to departure can sometimes mean fewer choices or higher pricing.
Early Planning Makes the Rest of the Trip Easier
For many travelers, a European river cruise is just one part of a bigger trip.
Someone cruising the Danube River might add a few extra nights in Prague, while travelers sailing the Rhine River often spend time exploring Amsterdam before or after their cruise.
Booking early gives you time to plan flights, hotels, and extra experiences without feeling rushed.
The Bottom Line
Yes, planning a trip a year in advance might feel early.
But when it comes to river cruising, early planning usually means better pricing, more cabin choices, and a wider selection of itineraries. And once the trip is booked, you can relax and start looking forward to the experience—sailing past castles along the Rhine River, exploring historic cities along the Danube River, and enjoying one of the most relaxing ways to see Europe.
When you're ready to start planning your river cruise, let's chat.
Frequently Asked Questions About Booking a River Cruise
How far in advance should you book a river cruise?
As a travel advisor, I definitely recommend booking a river cruise 9 to 12 months in advance(or more). This is especially true for popular European river cruise itineraries along the Danube River and Rhine River, where ships can sell out quickly.
Do river cruises sell out early?
Yes. Because river cruise ships are smaller than ocean cruise ships, many sailings sell out months ahead of time. Popular routes and seasonal departures—such as European Christmas Markets cruises—often fill up more than a year before departure.
What is the best time to book a European river cruise?
The best time to book a European river cruise is usually when itineraries are first released, which can be a year or more before the sailing date. And honestly, they are releasing sailing dates earlier and earlier.
Which rivers are most popular for European river cruises?
Two of the most popular river cruise routes in Europe are the Rhine River and the Danube River. These rivers pass through multiple countries and offer iconic scenery, historic cities, and cultural experiences.
