Overview
Introduction
The country's largest and most spectacular waterfall is the centerpiece of the tiny Agumatsa Wildlife Sanctuary, which lies on the Togo border east of the market town of Hohoe. A lovely footpath leads through lush forest to the base of the waterfall, crossing a cool stream several times en route, and you can bathe in a pool at the base if the waterfall.
Monkeys and birds are surprisingly thin on the ground there, but the cliff around the waterfall hosts an immense breeding colony of bats, which can be a spectacular sight around sunset as tens of thousands of them head out for a night's hunting.
