Soak up the atmosphere of Yangon's vibrant markets. Immerse yourself in the morning bustle of Bogyoke Market, admire the exotic produce at Thiri Mingalar Market, and conclude your trip at the glittering, riverside pagoda of Botahtaung.

After you're picked up from your hotel, head to Bogyoke Aung San, one of Yangon's principal morning markets. Sometimes still called Scott Market—its former, British name—this 70-year-old, colonial bazaar is jam-packed with locals and visitors alike. Stroll between stalls and scope out souvenirs that tickle your fancy, from handmade bags and puppets to elegant gems.

Drive to the lively Thiri Mingalar fruit and vegetable market. Located on the banks of the river just outside the city center, this market features a fine selection of produce from around Myanmar. Admire the heaps and piles of colorful produce and flowers as people stream in and out of the market with their woven baskets full to overflowing.

From there, travel to Botahtaung Pagoda, which overlooks the gentle flow of the Yangon River just south of the city. Built some 2,500 years ago, this charming, ancient pagoda features a golden stupa that gleams brilliantly in the sunlight. Walk along the river and enjoy the colorful ambiance as boats shuttle along the shore, loading and unloading goods, before you return to the city center.
