Description:
Visit the greatest archaeological sites in Xi'an on this private day tour. Discover rare ancient artifacts from the Han and Tang dynasties at Qianling Mausoleum, and take in the spiritual settings at the Famen Temple—one of the most sacred Buddhist sanctuaries in China.
Your journey begins with a morning hotel pickup, and then you head to Qianling Mausoleum—the tomb of Emperor Gaozong and his wife, Empress Wu Zetian, the only female emperor in Chinese history. When you arrive at Mount Liang, walk along the sacred path and marvel at the many stone sculptures and pillars that line the trail.
Next, visit the Tomb of Princess Yongtai, the granddaughter of Tang Emperor Gaozong. As you walk around the exhibit, view more than 1,000 cultural artifacts, including murals, pottery, tri-color glazed pottery figurines, and gold vessels. Pass by the princess' stone coffin and be astonished by the exquisite carvings and paintings.
Continue your tour at Famen Temple, which is one of the most famous Buddhist temples in the world because it holds the genuine relics of Gautama Buddha (Sakyamuni). Pass by the majestic Namaste Dagoba, which towers above you at a height of 485 feet (148 m). Inside, you can see the unearthed relics and ancient treasures housed in this holy building.
