Description:
The Australian Outback offers a vast expanse of incredible landmarks, history, and culture that you can explore on this 6-day adventure. Visit the giant rock formations of Uluru and Kata Tjuta, walk through the narrow ravine of Standtley Chasm, and dine out under wide-open sky.
Day 1:
Start your tour with a ride to the Uluru sunset viewing area, where you can watch as the evening brings out the deep shades of color for which Uluru is famous. After sunset, head to an exclusive barbecue site for a variety of Australian meats and salads and a glass of sparkling wine or orange juice. If weather permits, you can get a spectacular view of the stars, far from the city lights.
Day 2:
At dawn, visit the Uluru sunrise viewing area, Talinguru Nyakunytjaku, to watch the morning's first light set the Red Centre aglow. A ride around the base of Uluru brings you to the Mutitjulu Walk, where you can visit the charming Mutitjulu Waterhole and the Aboriginal rock paintings that grace the area.
After a stop at the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre, travel to Kata Tjuta, an incredible collection of giant domed rocks, and follow the rocky walking path to the Valley of the Winds. Once you arrive, enjoy a magnificent view of the Outback sunset as the bluffs of Kata Tjuta stand above you.
Day 3:
Spend the morning at your leisure, exploring the landscape around you or just take a breaking before the tour takes you to the site of your next adventure.
Day 4:
Rise early and prepare for your trek to the rim of Kings Canyon. Once you reach the spectacular gorge, you can either hike along the rim for marvelous views of Watarrka National Park or take a more leisurely walk along the boulder-strewn canyon floor.
Day 5:
Explore the grandeur of the West MacDonnell Ranges, the deep red cleft of Standley Chasm, the spectacular geology of Ellery Creek Big Hole, and the Ochre Pits that formed a centerpiece of the Aboriginal economy. Visit Glen Helen Gorge, see the immense quartzite cliffs at Simpsons Gap, and keep an eye out for the black-footed rock-wallabies that make the area home.
Day 6:
Your tour comes to an end with a transfer to Alice Springs, where you can explore some of the attractions in the city or head to the airport for your onward flight.
