Description:

Explore the Egyptian desert aboard an air-conditioned vehicle and enjoy views of Mount Sinai while en route to Saint Catherine's Monastery. Admire the bush through which Moses is said to have talked to God, enjoy a traditional Bedouin lunch, and experience a desert camel ride.

Begin your day with pickup from your hotel and set out for the desert in the direction of Saint Catherine's Monastery, built below Mount Sinai. Once here, admire its remarkable interiors as your guide explains the different sections. See an extensive collection of silver chandeliers and visit the chapel, which features many religious artifacts.

Then walk to the site of the “Burning Bush” to hear about the age of Moses. You have a chance to receive a private blessing from a local priest if you like. Continue to a local handicraft center, where you can bargain for embroidered treasures, including cushions, bags, and clothing. After, indulge in a traditional feast as you visit with a local Bedouin family in their home. Take this time to learn about Egyptian ingredients and how to prepare them in traditional fashion.

Your last stop is on the desert plateau, where you take a memorable camel ride through scenic landscape. See the Bronze Age tombs, called Nawamis—now a World Heritage site—which date back over 5,000 years.
