Description:

Escape the bustle of modern Shanghai and experience the gentler pace of city life. This walking tour gives you a glimpse of traditional Chinese urban life as you dance through parks or meditate with tai chi, sample traditional Chinese dumpling soup, and visit to the Urban Planning Museum.

Hop on board the metro and leave the cosmopolitan city behind to delve deep into the core of Shanghai's Old City. Upon arrival, head to Lu Xun Park, where you can take a leisurely stroll and see locals practice their daily tai chi or ballroom dancing. Why not join in and take part in the traditional hobbies?

Next, explore one of Shanghai's longtang districts, warrens of small traditional courtyard households connected by narrow alleys. Within the longtang you can admire the traditional architecture and visit the former residence of one of China's most famed writers, Lu Xun.

Then, it's time for a rest at a street café. Sample the city's famed soup dumplings before exploring Duolun Road, a historic street home to restored 20th-century mansions. Make a stop at an antique store showcasing a collection of crafts and ornaments form the 1900s, then visit the unique Hongde Temple, a Christian church built in the style of a Chinese temple.

Your tour ends with a visit to the Urban Planning Museum, where you can see the planning model of the entirety of urban Shanghai, showing existing buildings and approved future buildings.
