Description:

Step back in time to the reign of the Joseon Dynasty, witnessing Korean life during this period firsthand at the Minsok Korean Folk Village. Tour this living museum for a look at traditional homes, household items from different regions, and Koran food and clothing from a bygone era.

After you're picked up from your hotel, travel a short distance to the Korean Folk Village, set on grounds sprawling over 243 acres (98 ha). On the drive over, you can catch a glimpse of Suwon's Hwaseong Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Stroll through the village, admiring over 260 homes representing different regions and social classes from Korean Society. Note the different layouts and designs, and watch demonstrations of crafts like embroidery, pottery making, woodworking. You can see musical instruments being made and even try your hand at a handicraft or two, from pounding cloth to making typical foods like rice cakes. A working farm produces over 100 traditional edible plants and herbs.

Wander the stalls of the period street market, and then get your camera ready for one of the village's various performances. Throughout the day, you can watch folk dancers perform to Korean music dating back 500 years, observe a wedding ceremony, and even catch tightrope acrobatics act and an equestrian martial arts show.
