Get an insider’s look at Santiago on this fascinating tour of the Chilean capital, visiting hip and historic neighborhoods, scoping out landmark architecture, and sampling the delicious cuisine on offer at the colorful central market and a traditional restaurant.

Meet your guide at La Moneda in the Plaza de la Constitucion, a popular and iconic local gathering place, and head to the neighborhood of La Alameda, distinguished by its gorgeous architecture that blends the new and old. Explore what’s considered the heart and soul of Santiago, where the city first started, and snap photos of sights like Plaza de Armas as you get a feel for what makes this city so great.

From there, hop onto the metro to travel like a local to the Mercado Central, which boasts some of the freshest produce in the country. Wander the aisles and watch how locals shop and bargain for deals, flexing your own negotiating skills if you’d like before your guide orders up some typical Chilean dishes for you to try.

Next, make your way to La Vega Central, a market just on the other side of the Mapocho River that peddles just about everything you can imagine, from souvenirs to healing potions.
