Description:

Hit the beach for an introduction to the killer swells and radical breaks off California’s coast. Choose a 1- or 2-day excursion to learn how paddle out to sea, pop up on your board, and catch big rolling waves with an experienced instructor to help you along the way.

Meet your surf expert on the shores of Pacifica and throw on a wetsuit while you listen to basic information about the importance of ocean safety. Practice a few techniques on land as you learn the fundamental paddling strokes and movements to stand up on your board at just the right moment. When you’re ready for the real thing, clip on your ankle strap and sprint out into the water.

Head into the rising swells and wait for your ideal wave. As it comes, paddle along to match its speed and jump up just as it curls over into a powerful barrel of water. Keep your balance and cruise all the way into shore before jumping off and heading back out to do it all over again, getting tips from your guide after each ride.

With small group sizes, consistent conditions, and 3 hours of instruction per day, this is the perfect lesson for beginners who want to ride their first wave, or for those with some experience who want to hone their skills or simply brush up on their surfer lingo.
