Description:
Explore San Jose by night. This exciting evening tour is complete with local markets, cultural icons, and a tasty dinner with wine pairings. Your evening is all sorted.
Get close with the nightlife in San Jose, starting with the Central Market, which is the best way to learn about the city's food. Stroll the market with your local guide and get to know the secrets and uses for the roots, herbs, and fruit common in local cuisines, including ingredients that play a role in your authentic Costa Rican dinner later on. The locals say that you can get anything you need at the Central Market, even love potions.
After the market, make your way down Central Avenue, enjoying a trip down San Jose's memory lane, learning about the city's history and hearing anecdotes, as well as visiting one of the most architecturally charming buildings in San Jose, the National Theatre.
From there, your appreciation for San Jose's historical architecture continues with a walk through Morazan Park to enjoy the Metallic Building, and then on to Spain Park for a fantastic view of the Yellow House (now the Ministry of Foreign Affairs). Also in the neighborhood are some buildings that make you feel as if you've gone back in time to the 1800s, including the National Distillery, Paseo de las Damas, Supreme Court of Elections, as well as the National Park. You end up at the artisan market and pay a visit before hopping private transportation bound for Guachipelin.
On the way to this suburb of San Jose, you get to witness the growth of the city due to its popularity with national and international companies. Then you spend the rest of your evening at a favorite local restaurant that specializes in Argentinian wine and gourmet food. Their menu is Mediterranean, but the ingredients are Costa Rican, and the wine pairings you receive have been specifically selected for your meal.
Between your tasty 3-course meal and wines that go down like a treat, you end the evening in fine fashion, feeling every bit a San Jose local. If you'd like to continue the evening in Guachipelin, your local guide is happy to provide suggestions on where to head, but if not, you can be assisted with getting a taxi back to San Jose.
