Explore the charming town of Cartago, a sleepy oasis of Costa Rican culture and fresh air outside the big city. See the parks and historic buildings of San Jose, ride a train through the mountains, and join the locals who take their bicycles along the charming country roads.

Get started in the charming setting of Parque España, one of the oldest parks in San Jose. Cross the street to admire the view of the iconic Yellow House, and then move on to the National Liquor Factory as your local guide shares snippets of information about the landmarks along the way.

Next, a quick 10-minute hike into the hills of San Jose brings you to the Atlantic Railroad, where you board a train for the ride to Cartago. The scenic 45-minute journey will take you into the mountains and through coffee plantations to reach the next leg of your adventure.

Once you arrive in Cartago, pick up a bicycle and start cruising through the streets. Your guide makes regular stops to fill you in on all the history behind this fascinating town, and you can mingle with the locals who routinely travel by bike.
