Description:

Channel your inner Russell Crowe as you don authentic Roman attire and learn to use realistic weaponry. Learn how to become a gladiator at one of Rome's modern-day gladiator schools with a lesson that is not only historically accurate, but also a whole lot of fun.

Head along the ancient Appian Way to a school with its very own dueling arena. Start off in the adjoining Gladiator School of Rome Museum, where you get a little background on the history of gladiators, while getting close to authentic Roman artifacts, including swords, shields, and armor.

Next, step into your traditional military tunic, belt, and leather gloves, and then grab your training sword and gather around as you're shown you the techniques used in a sword battle—in complete safety. Your teacher is a member of the Historic Group of Rome.

Once you've mastered your technique and been put through the paces, you can even take part in an optional tournament with your fellow gladiator students, where a prize is given to the ultimate warrior. And if you don't feel up to the activity, you can choose to watch your friends or family from the viewing gallery free of charge.
