Description:

Immerse yourself in the heart of Mount Aspiring National Park with a high-speed jet boat ride on the Dart River, followed by a nature walk through a beech forest—untouched in 80 million years. Round off the day with a scenic back-country drive to view filming locations from the Lord of the Rings.

Departing Queenstown by bus, pass Lake Wakatipu, where the mountains meet the water, and into the Dart River Valley and Mount Aspiring National Park.

Once reaching Dart River, hop aboard the jet boat for your ride along the glacier-fed river. Feel the air whipping past you and lose yourself in the beauty of the river, the rugged overhanging cliffs, and the surrounding thick forests.

Next, stop at Paradise and disembark the boat to meet your guides for a nature walk through an 80-million-year-old beech forest. Listen as they reveal Maori stories and legends of the area, and teach you about the local flora and fauna you see along the way.
