Description:

Go off the beaten path to explore a genuine, traditional part of Mexico. Wander off to the 16-century El Tuito village aboard a 4x4 Mercedes truck. Visit an organic farm, bakery, and tortillería. Stop at the Vallarta Botanical Gardens to admire a splendidly decorated hacienda.

Make your way to Jalisco's idyllic countryside to experience life in peaceful El Tuito, tucked into the Sierra Madre range. In the village's botanical garden, explore the wide variety of local flora, featuring cacti, strangler figs, and even some orchids. Just the gracefully decorated garden's hacienda is worth the visit.

Tour the village's center, including the church, before moving on to a typical tortillería, where Mexico's everyday food is prepared right in front of you. Get familiar with queso panela, a local delicatessen-fresh cheese elaborated in a local casa.

Next, pass by pre-Hispanic petroglyphs found in the village. Historians who've studied this ancient rock surface believe the carvings to be at least 1,200 years old.
