Description:
Explore Oahu's scenic North Shore by bike, pedaling past world-famous surf destinations and grabbing lunch, island-style, at a shrimp truck in the beachside town of Haleiwa. You can also take in spectacular island sights and scenery on your drive north from Waikiki.
Sit back in a comfortable van and head inland from Waikiki. As you ride across the island, your attentive, local guide shares insight into Oahu's spectacular natural features and history. Pass by the Sanju Pagoda and Queen Emma's Summer Palace as you ride through the lush Nu'uana Valley, and pull off at the Nu'uana Pali Lookout. This clifftop vantage point offers sprawling views over the windward coast, from the white sands of Lanikai Beach to Chinaman's Hat.
Arrive in the North Shore and hop on your bike. Your leisurely, 12-mile (20-km) route is suitable for riders of all levels. Pedal by Sunset Beach, Banzai Pipeline, and Waimea Bay, watching for skilled surfers riding the waves. In the little town of Haleiwa, pass by surf shops and galleries on your way to the Kahuku Shimp Farms food truck for an authentic, Hawaiian-style plate lunch. Pass by the old Waialua Sugar Mill and jump off your bike at Aweoweo Beach. Grab a snorkel and jump into the calm waters to swim, watching for colorful fish and even gentle sea turtles in the reef.
Spend some time take a breaking on the quiet beach before your return drive, which takes you by Oahu landmarks like Pearl Harbour and Punchbowl Cemetery before arriving back in Waikiki.
