Just like its French neighbor, the Italian Riviera features attractive towns, sandy beaches, and a spectacular coastline. Cross the border to explore street markets in San Remo or Ventimiglia in Italy—depending on the market day—and fall in love with Menton, known as “the Pearl of France.”

On this small-group tour, visit either Ventimiglia or San Remo, charming towns with lively Italian atmosphere and famous markets specialized in food, clothes, and leather bags. The open-air markets take place on Tuesdays and Saturdays in San Remo and Fridays in Ventimiglia.

Stoll through the lively alleyways and be amazed by the mixture of color and fragrance you encounter. Explore the old and picturesque city center and enter the narrow maze of medieval lanes and alleyways. Gaze at the ancient stone houses, shops, and pleasant little square. Perhaps try the delicious local cuisine—homemade pasta, pizza, or seafood—or just savor a cup of coffee in an excellent Italian café.

Back in France, reach the delightful town of Menton. During the Belle Époque, it was a favorite winter destination of the British aristocracy and bourgeoisie.
