Description:

Leave the Big Apple behind and go north of the border, taking in the natural splendor of Niagara Falls, the wine country charm of Niagara-on-the-Lake, and the urban vibe of Toronto, Canada's largest city. A cruise through the Thousand Islands area completes your excursion.

Day 1
Depart from New York City, stopping in the scenic Finger Lakes region to walk up to the waterfalls in Watkins Glen Canyon on your way to the American side of Niagara Falls. This vast, thundering cascade plummets over 165 feet (50 m) and straddles the border between Canada and the US. Catch the evening light show on the water from the Canadian side before settling in at your hotel.

Day 2
Depending on the season, your exploration of Niagara Falls continues with a boat ride to the base of the falls on the Maid of the Mist or with the Journey Behind the Falls Tour through the tunnels at the bottom of Horseshoe Falls. From there it's on to Toronto, Ontario's capital and Canada's most populous city. Check out landmarks like Parliament and Eaton Center, and then head to your hotel near the Thousand Islands, where Lake Ontario funnels into the Saint Lawrence River.

Day 3
Your final day begins with a cruise through the Thousand Islands to admire the lavish homes and charming scenery of this 1,864-island archipelago. From there, head back over the border, visiting the Welland Canal locks on your way to lunch in the picturesque town of Niagara-on-the-Lake. Stop at an outlet mall to hunt for brand-name bargains before you return to Manhattan.
