Your guide shares with you stories of how slave labor built many of the roads, the buildings, and even the wall after which Wall Street is named. Learn about riots, revolts, and dramatic escapes that occurred during this time.

Hear tales of the courage of real New Yorkers who risked life and property to help escaping slaves find freedom. Visit the former site of the American Cotton Exchange, which once housed the offices of 2 prominent abolitionists. Then see other magnificent structures that slaves built, such as Collins Wall and Fort Fincastle.

Finally, walk to the former site of the first African-American church in New York, which was also a stop on the Underground Railroad.
