Description:

Relish the beauty of Japanese culture on this full-day tour to Kyoto and Nara. View the iconic sites at Kyoto like Nijō Castle, Kinkakuji Temple, and Kyoto Imperial Palace. After lunch, explore popular Nara attractions like Tōdaiji Temple, Nara Park, and Kasuga-taisha Shrine.

After convenient hotel pickup, get dropped off at the Osaka Station; from here, journey to Kyoto by train. Upon arrival, head to the 16th-century Nijo Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Admire this structure surrounded by slender Hinoki cypress and featuring intricate wood carvings.

Next, visit Kinkakuji Temple, with its 2 upper stories covered with gold leaf. Explore each floor, each with its own unique architectural design. Continue on to the vast Kyoto Imperial Palace, spanning 4,300 feet (1,300 m) north to south and 2,300 feet (700 m) east to west. See the garden, surrounded by a white-walled corridor with bright vermilion pillars.

Break for lunch at a local restaurant before taking your transfer to the city of Nara. Once there, continue to the Todaiji Temple, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Marvel at the 2 foot (8 m) tall dancing guardians called the Nio.

After, head to Nara Park to see over 1,200 wild sika deer roaming free over 1,235 acres (500 ha) of land. You can purchase “deer crackers” to feed these lovely creatures that are considered a National Treasure. Then go to the Kasuga-taisha to admire the ornate bronze lanterns that lead to the shrine. Your tour ends at Osaka Station.
