Leaving from Wanaka, your flight over the Southern Alps reveals the awe-inspiring landscapes below. From a nimble plane, gaze out over the glaciers and the pointed peak of Mount Aspiring. Land deep within Fiordland National Park and board your boat for a voyage through the pristine waters of Milford Sound—dubbed the eighth wonder of the world by Rudyard Kipling.
It’s hard to know where to look. The verdant hillsides of native forest, sheer cliffs with cascading waterfalls, and snow-capped peaks all draw your eye. Don’t neglect to watch the water too—good-natured dolphins, seals, and rare penguins all inhabit this area.
