Description:
Located just off the southeastern coast of the Dominican Republic, Catalina Island is the perfect spot to get away for the day. Go sunbathing on the beach, snorkel among the reefs, and enjoy an authentic Dominican lunch during your day on the island.
Upon arriving on the tiny, 3.7-square-mile (9.6 sq km) island, take a welcome drink as your guide gives you a brief explanation of the local geography. Gear up with the provided snorkeling equipment and swim out to the nearby Catalina Wall, one of the most charming dive sites in the Dominican Republic.
With many shallow sandbars just offshore, you don't need to be an experienced swimmer to enjoy the surrounding waters. After you've worked up an appetite, head back to shore for a Caribbean lunch buffet complete with tropical drinks, beer, or soda. While you are there, have a taste of the island's famous mama juana, an herbal tea rumored to be an aphrodisiac.
Relax after lunch before exploring the island's sand dunes and mangroves, or spend the remainder of your day on a chaise lounge along the charming white-sand beach.
