Description:

Let the morning breeze whisk you away to the island of Lanai on a catamaran. Here, spend the day doing watersports in a marine preserve, lounge on the white sandy beach and take advantage of a guided tour of Lanai’s plantation town. A barbecue dinner is served on the beach before the return sail.

In Lahaina Harbor, greet your captain and crew onboard the 64-foot rigged sailing catamaran and grab a cushioned seat inside the galley for a safety briefing. While the crew gives an orientation, fuel up on homemade cinnamon rolls, coffee, juice and seasonal fruit.

1.5 hours later the captain secures the vessel in the harbor on Lanai. The Hulopo’e Marine Preserve—your playground for the day—is only a short walk away. Once there, indulge in a variety of activities such as swimming, beach volleyball, sunbathing, snorkeling and SNUBA in the protected bay. Lined with palm trees, the bay offers plenty of shade as well.

A guided tour of Lanai’s historic plantation town gives insight into the past and present life on the island. Along the way, watch the scenery change from ocean vistas to mountain terrain with pine trees framing the quaint town. Back at the bay, the crew is ready to serve up a kiawe wood fired barbecue dinner. Asian stir-fried noodles, season vegetables, fresh green salads and local pineapple compliments the meal.

On the return sail to Maui, be on the look-out for the Lanai resident dolphins before shifting your gaze towards the West Maui Mountains. In the late afternoon the rays of sunshine make the color contrasts from tropical green to volcanic red appear bright and it makes for great photo backdrops.
