Description:
Spend 4 days exploreing some of France's most remarkable scenery and unforgettable landmarks. Visit the historic World War II landing beaches of Normandy and the walled coastal town of Saint-Malo, and then venture into the Loire Valley to see the magnificent chateaus for which the region is famed.
Day 1: Rouen & the Landing Beaches of Normandy
Drive west to see the Norman town of Rouen and visit the site of the United States Army's landing at Omaha Beach, as well as the nearby American Cemetery for soldiers who lost their lives in the fighting. Your overnight accommodation is in the center of Caen.
Day 2: Saint-Malo & Mont St. Michel
Cross into Brittany and visit the town of Saint-Malo. Discover the port and walk the quaint streets before you head to Mont Saint-Michel. As you explore the iconic island village, your guide explains the history and culture of the community and hilltop abbey. Your hotel for the evening is in Angers.
Day 3 – Chateaux of Langeais, Clos Luce & Villandry
Your first stops in the Loire Valley are at the medieval chateaus of Langeais and Clos Luce, a former residence of Leonardo da Vinci. Stop at the chateau of Villandry, home to gardens that many consider the finest in the valley, and enjoy dinner and overnight accommodation in the city of Tours.
Day 4 – Chateaux of Chenonceau, Cheverny & Chambord
Spend the last day of your tour exploring the 3 of the valley's most well-known chateaus. Start at the Renaissance-style Chateau de Chenonceau before moving on to the serene Chateau de Cheverny and the resplendent Chateau de Chambord, one of the largest and most recognizable chateaus in France.
