Description:
Set out on a catamaran for a morning sail to the island of Lanai. Spend the day doing watersports in a marine preserve, lounge on the white sand beach, and take advantage of a guided tour of Lanai’s plantation town. A barbecue dinner is served on the beach before your return sail.
In Lahaina Harbor, greet your captain and crew and step aboard the 64-foot (20-m) catamaran. Grab a cushioned seat inside the galley for a safety briefing, and fuel up on homemade cinnamon rolls, coffee, juice, and seasonal fruit.
After 90 minutes of cruising, pull into harbor on Lanai. The Hulopo’e Marine Preserve—your playground for the day—is only a short walk away. Once there, jump into a variety of activities like swimming, beach volleyball, sunbathing, snorkeling, and SNUBA in the protected, palm-fringed bay.
A guided tour of Lanai’s historic plantation town offers insight into the island, past and present. Watch the scenery change from ocean vistas to mountain terrain and pine trees as you head inland to the quaint town. Back at the bay, the crew serves up a kiawe (mesquite) wood-fired barbecue dinner with stir-fried noodles, seasonal vegetables, fresh green salads, and local pineapple.
On the return sail, be on the lookout for Lanai’s resident dolphins before the West Maui Mountains come into view. In the late afternoon sunlight, the hills glow deep green and volcanic red, making for great photo backdrops as you soak up your final moments on the boat.
