Description:

Discover the true beauty of the city while cycling through the streets of Kyoto, Japan’s cultural capital. Coast along Katsura River to Arashiyama and visit the World Heritage Sites of Tenryu-ji temple and Shimogamo Shrine.

At Kyoto Central Post Office meet your local guide and pick up your bike to begin a leisurely ride along the Katsura River to Arashiyama, a popular tourist destination with plenty of natural beauty. Here, cycle through the serene bamboo groves and check out the Togetsukyo Bridge before stopping at Tenryu-ji temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Explore several small temples and ancient shrines before lunch at one of the many restaurants nearby. Then continue biking toward Kinkaku-ji temple and marvel at the top 2 floors richly covered in gold leaf. Marvel at its impressive structure and charming views of its surroundings.

Next visit another World Heritage Site—Shimogamo Shrine. It and Tenryu-ji are some of the oldest and most popular shrines in Kyoto. Walk to admire the stunning and well-preserved forest with trees that are up to 600 years old and then conclude your tour with a take a breaking stroll back to Kyoto station via Kamo River.
