Description:

Suit up and slip quietly out into the ocean and float over a circle of lights that illuminate the sea to experience the thrill and excitement as manta rays arrive. Having up to 16-foot wingspans these marine animals dwarf humans in the water. Watch as they perform their nightly feeding ballet.

Manta rays are filter feeders who feed on plankton and other various organisms in the water, including bacteria, plants, and small animals. A full-grown manta ray can consume up to 60 pounds in a single day. Their best opportunity for food is at night. The plankton attracted by the circle of lights provide a concentrated source of food for the mantas. You have the opportunity to watch as they scoop the plankton over and over again, often coming within inches of you.

When the snorkeling ends, head to the freshwater shower to rinse off. The staff then prepares the boat for departure. Relax on the upper deck's sky lounge to share your experience with the other guests and warm up with a hot chocolate, Mai Tai, or light snack (pretzels and pineapple). Sit back and enjoy Kona's coastal skyline and reflect on the evening's adventure.
