After a convenient hotel pickup, take a break on the scenic 3-hour journey to Halong Bay. On the way, stop at the Hong Ngoc Humanity Center—developed to provide support for victims of Agent Orange—where you can purchase charming handmade crafts. Then it’s off to the peaceful town of Halong, and your awaiting boat.

Hop aboard and take in the eye-popping, spectacular views of the towering, jagged lime karsts—together forming more than 2,000 islands in the bay. Legend has it that ancient dragons dropped these huge stone masses in these waters to defend Vietnam from invaders. With this in mind, sail into the hidden grottos and marvel at the elaborate patterns and shapes created by the limestone formations.

Next, visit a local fishing village and learn about its age-old culture and customs. Weather permitting, you can take a take a breaking dip in the bay's warm, emerald waters. To refuel, savor a delicious seafood lunch on the boat before you cruise back to port, and are driven back to Hanoi.
