Description:

Crested Butte—Colorado's “last great ski town”—boasts lots of history and not a lot of crowds. Sprawling over 1,547 skiable acres (626 ha), Crested Butte offers winter sports enthusiasts of all skill levels a huge variety of terrain to explore.

Crested Butte shuttles skiers and boarders from the base at 9,100 feet (2,773 m) to the summit at 12,162 feet (3,707 m) and sees 300 inches (7.62 m) of snowfall each year. While the steep and rocky chutes, forested glades, cliff jumps, and high-elevation bowls are a draw for free-skiing competitions and advanced skiers seeking in-bounds thrills, the mountain also has a designated area for first-time skiers and plenty of slopes for those in search of gentler terrain. Approximately 15% of the mountain is classified as beginner, 54% is intermediate, 21% advanced, and 10% appeals to advanced skiers.

With a reputation for short lift lines, Crested Butte runs 16 lifts, including 4 high-speed quads and 4 surface lifts, to help skiers access its 121 runs.
