Description:

On this half-day tour, experience a different side of Rio de Janeiro by venturing to Rocinha, Brazil's largest favela. After exploring the neighborhood's colorful construction and vibrant community, visit the lush Tijuca Forest, the world's largest urban forest, for a short trail walk.

Hop into an open-air jeep and set off to the southern neighborhood of Rocinha, densely populated and home to more than 70,000 people. Follow your local guide to the Carlinhos rooftop, the favela's most popular viewpoint. From there, observe the multi-colored brick and concrete structures built into a steep hill.

Then head down the narrow streets toward the public market, Largo do Boiadeiro. Experience the lively and slightly chaotic atmosphere of the plaza, where you can enjoy local delicacies and purchase colorful handicrafts. Next, stop at Rocinha's renowned samba school, where locals perfect the rhythmic Brazilian dance.

Afterward, ride south to the Tijuca neighborhood and its adjacent rainforest. Admire the impressively dense jungle, hand-planted by the local government in the 19th century, and stroll along the trail walk. Soon you reach the magnificent Cascatinha Falls, its rushing water a final stunning sight.
