Discover the charming medieval city of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and the famous wineries of Tavel. Stroll through old cobbled alleys, admire wonderful panoramas, drive through vineyards, and taste one of France's most famous wines.

Named for the 14th-century castle created by Pope John XXII, Châteauneuf-du-Pape is almost completely dedicated to its world-famous wine. Wander the twisting, narrow streets with their charming fountains to see an ancient bread oven and olive press, and marvel at the view from the remains of the former castle.

Visit the city's wine museum to view a large collection of winemaking tools and machinery dating back to the 16th century. Once you've seen a bit of the area's history, your guide takes you into the countryside to see the present-day wineries that define the southern Rhône Valley.
