Situated high on a cliff overlooking the Caribbean are the ruins of Tulum. Your local, certified guide tells fascinating stories about the historical significance of the ruins and provides insight into Mayan history and culture.

Next, cool off with a refreshing swim and snorkel in the Gran Cenote. The Yucatán is full of cenotes—sinkholes filled with fresh water—and this one is adorned with stalactites and stalagmites, both above and below the surface of the water. After it filters through the limestone, the water is some of the clearest many have ever seen.

Stop for some lunch and solitude along a stretch of white-sand beach near the entrance of the Sian Ka'an biosphere reserve. Relax in a hammock among the palms, take a swim in the ocean, or stroll down the beach.

Your last stop is at a little cenote in the middle of the jungle, host to many tropical freshwater fish, fossils, and birds, as well as a cliff great for jumping. Jump, swim, and snorkel at your leisure before packing up to head back to your hotel.
